LOS ITALIANOS, Granada

Just in Gran Via in front of the cathedral... Do not miss it, the best ice creams...

And you will see that most of the people that go there is locals.....

I was shown this place ten years ago by a local..... and still enjoying it...

UPDATES the last time I went to Granada this was closed. Maybe they are closed in winter and only open in summer, not sure.

2010 UPDATE it is still open, i read on the news that Michelle Obama stopped there with the daughter for an ice cream LOL

There's always a line at Los Italianos, so you'll think either:
a) must go see what all the buzz is about
b) must avoid at all costs
Please pick A! These is very, very good ice cream that makes for a great pick-me-up after a day of sightseeing in Granada.

Favorite Dish: Turron (typical Spanish dessert made from peanuts and honey) and Avellana (hazelnut)

It is not a restaurant it is a 'Gelateria'.
We passed by close to midnight the first evening ,
and I took the picture. The place is still full of
people and there are 10 or 11 people working
behind the counter. I had to find out what was
going on....

I didn't regret my curiosity once. I walked out with
the best cassata I ever had. (I was quit a couple
of times in Italy...sorry Italians).
On our short visit , we kept on returning here ,
evey evening , sometimes before siesta...


Think about it this way. The Alhambra is also
a mixture of knowledge and cultures on a
place where you would not expect it....
Maybe the Spanish making Italian icecream
is the perfect coctail to make glorious icecream.

And it is inexpensive ,
2 euro for a piece and the smile is for free.
