The Alhambra Palace is breathtaking. I love the Moorish architecture. Because of the importance of water and bathing in the Muslim religion, there are many fountains and pools in the Alhambra.

This is a beautiful Moorish palace. It is packed with tourists but is really worth seeing if you like this kind of thing. There are fantastic views of the city from there, too.

    Court of Myrtles

by keeweechic Written Aug 28, 2009

The Patio de los Arrayanes or Court of Myrtles is so called because of the colourful myrtle bushes which surrounds the main pond which is 40 metres long.

    Garden of Orange Trees

by keeweechic Written Aug 29, 2009

In the garden below are orange trees, for which the garden is known, acacias, box bushes and cypresses. It was built between 1526 and 1538 prior to the King’s chambers being built.

When you exit the Generallife section then you will see this dry palm tree standing against very deep blue sky.

The ancient Moorish palace that was taken over by the Spanish when the last muslims werer driven out of Spain in the 1400s is a remarkable piece of architecture with its gardens and statues.

    Alhambra inside

    by Nexus7 Written Apr 26, 2003

This is an example of the ornate work inside the Alhambra. Every square inch was decorated in moorish design. This picture doesn't even do it justice.

    Alhambra Palace

    by martin.lees Written Sep 12, 2002

Although it is extremely popular, I think it's well worth a visit to this palace built by the Moors. Perhaps April was a good time to go.
