    Guadix

by smirnofforiginal Written May 7, 2010

Guadix is 55km from Granada and is home to around 3000 modern day troglodytes.
In the centre of Guadix there is an elegant cathedral. Mostly though, there are white chimneys sticking out of the ground - evidence that the earth you are walking on is actually the roof of somebody's home! These cave homes are not your ancient caveman type - these have white washed walls and all mod cons.... well, of course, some are not as as modern as others...

Guadix is a small town in the Granada province heading East from Granada. It has a pretty enough centre, but what makes it special is the cave dwelling neighbourhood which is even more incredible than Granada's Sacromonte.
