Getting Around Granada

Granada airport is about 17km west of the city. There is a bus service between the airport and the city centre which leaves approximately every 30 minutes. It stops at many places in the city including the train station and Gran Via de Colon, probably the most convenient stop. As of May 2006 it cost 3Euro for a single ticket.

Granada is in Andalucia, south of Spain.

there is no subway in granada, so if you need to get across town, the best way to do so is the bus. if i recall correctly, i think a bus ticket is about 1 euro. most of the time, i was able to walk to all of the places i needed to get. the system is very easy to figure out, just look at a map at a bus stop and figure out which number bus you need to get on. the only times i took the bus were to get to the bus station for out of town trips or to la cartuja monastery which is kind of on the edge of town. if you are located in central granada, you can get to most places on foot.

if you need to get to the granada airport, there is a 3 euro shuttle that will take you there. it picks you up kind of by plaza nueva, by the statue of la reina isabel. it's a cheap alternative to a taxi.

The city bus does not stop directly at the Granada train station. To get to the train station, catch a No. 4, 6, 9, or 11 bus on the Gran Via de Colon going west (away from the Plaza Isabel La Catolica towards the Jardines del Triunfo). Get off at the stop immediately after the one for the Jardines/Plaza del Triunfo and then cross the Avenida de la Constitucion and walk down Avenida de la Andalusi to the train station.

To get to the Plaza Nueva from the train station, walk straight ahead away from the train station up to Gran Via de Colon and catch a No. 4, 6, 7, 9, or 11 going toward the right (east) and get off at the stop for the Cathedral and continue walking to the east to Calle Reyes Catolicos (if you pass the Catholic Monarchs monument you've gone too far - see photo). Make a left and the Plaza Nueva will be about 200m up the street.

Granada has a very small airport 12 kilometres far from the centre. It's a national airport so you'll only can go there from the most importants cities in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid..)
From the airport you can go to the city by bus (there are not many of them). If you want to consult the times the bus leaves (958.27.86.77) Tell the driver where you're getting off so he'll know and will tell you when you arrive. The prize is 3 euros.
From Granada to the airport buses leave from Gran Via (ask the driver a brochure with the timetables). In the airport you can rent a car.
Other way to get to Granada is by taxi.

From Madrid I drove my rental car to Granada via the Autopista de Andalucia (N-IV). It's about a 5 hour trip one way. Past the cut-off to Cordoba and Sevilla the landscape changes from the rolling flat-lands of Castilla to the mountainous ranges of Andalucia.
Walking and public buses. Take the bus that drives around the old, narrow streets of the Old City. These streets are so narrow that there's room for only one vehicle.

Granada does provide an airport though it it for national flights only. Best is to fly to Malaga and the take a car of some sort to Granada, which is between a 1 and 2 hour journey. Trains are also avaliable.
Walk, its not too big and the paving isn't too good for your car. Parking is scarce aswell. I guess a bike is good if you have the skillz, and motor scooters

Granada has no international airport. The nearest international airport to Granada is the Airport of Malaga.
To get from Malaga to Granada you have to get a bus from the airport to the bus station. Then, you get another bus to get to Granada.
Granada's airport is 12 km from the city centre.
Otherwise, if you are in Madrid you can go to Granada by getting the train from ATOCHA.
