Flying to Jerez

Ryanair Boeing 737-800

Jerez has its own international airport out to the east of the city. There are not many international flights at the moment, but Ryanair fly there from London Stansted and Frankfurt Hahn.

For more information on the airport see my seperate tip on Jerez airport. This was written just after our last visit in May 2006, and contains information about the airport, plus some pictures inside the terminal.

The best way to get into the city is take a taxi (about 11 euros). There is also a bus service to the city centre (new this year), as well as two regular bus services (0.85 euros)

Jerez has a nice, modern airport which is easy to access, and not too busy. There are only a few international flights daily and several internal flights to Madrid and Barcelona. Besides the twice daily Ryanair flight to London Stansted, there is also one a day to Frankfurt (Hahn), and on the day we travelled through there was also a flight to Brussels. So maybe only ten flights a day in total.

There are 13 check-in desks, and only five departure gates - they seem to use Gate 1 for ALL international flights as I have never seen any other used in half-a-dozen visits. There is ample seating available by the gates, and a bar and shop in the departure lounge.

However, if you want something to eat or drink it is best to do so BEFORE you go through security, as there is a cafeteria / lounge on the first floor (directly above the check-in desks). This is a good place for that late breakfast if you have left the hotel early to make the morning flight back to London. The lounge looks out over the passenger apron, and you can watch the planes come and go if you are lucky - there aren't very many of them !

Jerez Airport

The taxi from Jerez Airport to Jerez bus station around 12-13 Euros. It was a little too much for me so i stood at the taxi stand which is just outside the arrival hall in Jerez airport. In 10 minutes i found another guy who was alone and looking for someone to share the taxi. So, we took the taxi and paid 7 Euros each.

Jerez is a lovely town, a lot to see - you should visit one Bodega at least - maybe Gonzales Byass (Tio Pepe) or Domeq and enjoy the horse show.
