Train from Airport to Fuengirola

The Cercanias train pass through the airport in his trip from Malaga to Fuengirola, stopping in Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel and Fuengirola.

In Fuengirola you can take buses to other places.

To get the the train from airport....

Arrivals are in ground floor so take the lift to Departures First floor and go out from airport.

There is a path that takes you direct to trains station. You can take your trolly and leave it near, but you will have to lift your luggage the stairs up. (at least it was like that the last time I used it)

For Fuengirola stay in the first side, if you go to Malaga cross to the other side

Trains are every half an hour until 11.30 if i am not wrong

The best web site is Iberia www.iberia.es, you can get return tickets for 60 euros in most of the direct flights of Spain if you book online in advance ...

Others are Spanair (www.spanair.com) and Air Europa....

FOR YOUR OWN SECURITY:
on your way to malaga eastbounds:MARBELLA (and ronda),ESTEPONA,GIBRALTAR,ALGECIRAS (and morocco),TARIFA....follow the expensive (3,1 euros between malaga/fuengirola and marbella, excepted from 01/06 to 30/09:5 euros!) but secure toll speedway A7 and AVOID always overcrowded and dangerous N340,even if it goes along the sea, there is NOTHING to see, excepted huge modern buildings without interest and traffic jams!!!

also a direct portillo bus from malaga airport to marbella through speedway A7.

It's a Hike to find the Bus Station!

The Long Distance Buses

If you arrive in malaga by the local train, you will arrive about ten minutes' walk from the bus station. Exit the station (from under ground(, and walk away from the main street, past the Post Office building, which sits on top of the Station. Walk down the Avenida De La Aurora, and at the first roundabout turn left into Cjnes Del Perchel. Walk straight on passing the next roundabout, to your left. Keep walking and look for a modern red bricked building, which is the bus station.

Bus Transport

The bus transportation in the Costa del Sol area at least, is very good and easily accessible...it's easy to find your way around in the terminal, so don't worry, you can do it! We took the bus from Malaga to Marbella, stopping in many towns along the way to let off passengers, finally arriving in Marbella.
As I've said before, it's interesting to talk to the local people. I spoke with my seat-mate (Kathy had to sit elsewhere because the bus was pretty full). He was a very nice man who pointed out places of interest along the way to me and told me a bit about his life there in Marbella. (See my Off the Beaten Path tip for a little more about this man) That was much better than just sitting there silent, wondering where we were at any given point! :o)

We took a taxi from the airport. The drivers are usually very nice and try to help and communicate with you!
This was two positive experiences with taxi drivers. We took two taxis, one from the airport to the hotel and another from the hotel to the bus terminal....no problems with either, so it is possible to get ethical taxi drivers!!

umm packing back from England

Malaga Airport is located 6 km West of Malaga, just at the main Coast Road (N340) and the new toll road.

When leaving the airport by car, and approaching the N340, the Left hand lane takes you to Malaga, Granada, Nerja all the Eastern Costa del Sol, and the right one is for Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona, Cadiz ...western Costa del Sol.

there is train Service from Málaga Airport to Málaga City and Fuengirola, every half an hour, just outside the airport.

There are frequent bus Service from the Airport to Málaga City, Service No 19, that takes you to the bus station, ready to take any bus.
