bono-bus card

If you plan a longer stay in Málaga, buy a bono-bus card. 10 trips for 5,30€. You can get it in every estanco, the tabacco shops.
With the card you have no problems getting around, because without it you have to pay attention that you have exacly 0,80€ for every trip. The bus drivers don't like to give a change.

Bus connections within the city and from the airport is convenient. I made a mistake alighting at the Estación de Autobuses where many people alight. The bus will continue into the city center.
Bus is convenient and easy to use.

Ok. I was an enthusiast this year and travelled using INTER-rail, and everything was Ok until we reached Spain. I was so angry, that my first impression was terrible. But, it is all about having information. You CANNOT simply catch a train and continue travels. You HAVE TO HAVE a reservation. No, not just for the high-speed ones: FOR ANY. Don't belive what you might read on other web-pages, cause I DID, and I ended up travelling two days through Spain. So, make sure you make reservation about 8-5 days AHEAD and then it is OK. (ask me for details about this issue)
As for me, next time I'm catching a plane - Malaga has its own air port.

Getting to Benalmadena or to Malaga: Easiest way is by plane.
If you are not afraid of driving there and you have money - getting around with a car is a great way to explore places. Renting a SMART is my dream, I'm just not the kind of person who would survive with the Spanish drivers...

The International airport has regular flights to most major cities and is located just 10 minutes from Malaga City centre, and is within 30 minutes by car from most other popular resorts on the coast.
You really need to hire a car to fully appreciate the splendour and plethora of photo opportunities that this part of Spain offers.

Malaga Airport is located about 6km West of the Malaga city, just off the main Coast Road (N340) and the new toll road which runs to Estepona. When leaving the airport by car, and approaching the N340, the Left hand lane which takes you across the flyover goes to the Malaga, Granada, Motril, Nerja and the Eastern Costa del Sol, whereas the right hand lane is for Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella, Estepona, Sotogrande, Gibraltar, Cadiz, and all other points on the western Costa del Sol.

Train Service from Málaga Airport to Málaga City and Fuengirola

The train station is outside the international terminal. Take the lift in the arrivals hall up to the Departures hall. Walk outside onto the upper level parking area, and turn right. Follow the signs over the footbridge to the train station.

Jet. We flew from Cincinatti, Ohio to Boston, Massachusetts and then to Spain. On the return trip we flew from Spain to Bangor, Maine and then to Cincinatti, Ohio
We traveled by bus. The roads were brick and very narrow. It was kind of scary, because the bus drivers drove fast.

If you turn on the left, you make for MALAGA,GRANADA and NERJA.
