Important: Read this if you’re going to Marbella
We arrived in Marbella on Friday the 3oth May 2014. There were 12 of us in the company on a hen weekend. We were all really excited and happy to be there, we were staying at the Vime La Reserva de Marbella.
The Hotel was really nice and we were looking forward to our stay. We booked Bed & breakfast at the time but on arrival we had the optional to upgrade to all inclusive for 25euros per day (which of course we all went with as that seemed a bargain). We spent the day at the hotel in the sun by the pool.
I would like to talk further about Marbella because what happened to us is vitally important to all hen parties thinking of coming here there is a serious criminal element to this place that you need to know.
Here is the story of what happened to some of our party. Read this and see if you still want to come here.
On Saturday night we all went out and were having a good night. Towards the end of the night most of our party decided to go back to the hotel. Three of our girls decided to have one more drink before following us home from Puerto Banus. The three girls were brought a drink from someone in the bar from the Puerto Banus strip. The girls had had a drink but were not drunk. They started to walk back and all of a sudden were surround by a gang of men. The men proceeded to split them up. By now the girls were totally disoriented and were obviously drugged by the man in the bar. One girl was robbed of everything. Cards bag phone etc. Alone and looking for the other two. Another girl basically came to her senses and had lost about an hour and half of time. Alone and looking for the others. She was down a quiet street totally lost not knowing where her friends were.
The third girl came to on a traffic island with a Spanish police officer on top of her trying to rape her. Also she recalls an old Spanish man beating her with his walking stick.
The second girl was then approached by a Spanish man who said to her “Are you looking for your friend, she’s down the road”. Totally disoriented she felt she had no choice but to go with him. He took her to the first girl who was robbed. The two girls then got into a taxi and started to look for their friend. They found her totally distraught on the traffic island with another man.
They thought this man was some sort of rescuer and he got in the taxi with them where he proceeded to rob them of their last money and started arguing with the taxi driver who then ordered him to get out of the taxi.
To cut this story short the girls ended up in hospital where they were treated awfully with no compassion what so ever. The police turned up and were even worse. The police became extremely angry towards the girls when they realised the attacker was an officer and that the girls and family back home had requested the assistance of the British Consul. The woman from the British Consul was lovely but was limited in the help she could give. However she did attend the police station with the girls where they all give statements. Throughout this process the Spanish police were unhelpful and damn right rude. They regarded the girls as just some more drunken brits. Which, they were absolutely not.
You are then left with the option of going to a court where a judge will decide whether or not the police should investigate or go home and nothing will be done. Baring in mind all this happened at roughly 3.30am Sunday and they were not released until Sunday 6.00pm.
By now most of our party had decided to pay to get earlier flights home as they were all totally traumatised by the events. The rest of the party have now flown home totally distraught.
This is a brief account of our experience. There are more details too distressing and too long to go into. But this a true account of what happened so hopefully it will warn other people and especially Hen parties young girls of the dangers of coming here and of the complete distain the Spanish health system and especially the police who have rapist amongst them have for you.
I am going to post this on every site that I can find including trip advisor so we will see if they remove it. If they refuse to post it, it is to their eternal shame.
You have been warned.
Puerto Banus - Disappointing
I recently went on a golfing trip located inland from Marbella. The golfing was fantastic and later that evening my friends and I wanted to sample the local nightlife. We were advised to go to Puerto Banus where there is an abundance of bars and clubs.
It was busy with mostly Brits and lots of pretty women. But something about this place wasn't quite right. It didn't take long to work out that practically all the beautiful ladies were either nightclub dancers or prostitutes. There were very few legitimate female tourists and being a single guy, I like the prospect of meeting decent single women. However, after chatting to several girls, they soon dropped the question, "Would you like some business - 300 euros?"
The Spanish don't seem to regulate these popular destinations. I've got nothing against hookers, but they should have an established area for whores, like Amsterdam, rather than ply their trade in clubs. Verdict - there are better places in Spain.
For dinner or to watch the huge yachts!
Puerto Banus is a very cosmopolitan marina, with many restaurants, bars, shops. People usually come here to walk around but you can also have dinner in Puerto Banus as its restaurants are among the best in Marbella.
There is a large parking in front of it, so , if you're driving, you will not have any problems parking it.
Here you can also see the huge yachts anchored, from all over the world. It's a very lively place and , specially at night , it gets very partying.

We stayed a very short time in Puerto Banus, just 15 minutes!! the boat we took was the last one and we arrived there at 5.45 p.m and the boat departs at just 6.00 p.m so I just had the time to have a fast coffe at Puerto Banus promenade. This place is very exclusive and luxury,so all cafeterias and pubs in the promenade are very expensive!!! one coffe it cost 3 Euros, and a coke can cost between 5 to 10 Euros!! so is better don't get drunk here,at least if you aren't a millionaire man!! :-)
You'll see some luxury apartment complex along all the sea promenade, sourrounded by gardens, palm trees and fountains.
This piece of sculpture was a gift of Russian citizens who live here to the former Marbellas' Major, Mr. Gil. It tries to represent an inhabitant of Marbella.
Esta escultura fue un regalo de ciudadanos rusos que viven aquí al antiguo alcalde de Marbella, el señor Gil. Intenta representar a un residente de Marbella.
Marina - Puerto deportivo
Puerto Banus is one of the most luxurious marinas in the Mediterranean Sea. Taking a walk along the port you will have the chance to see some of the most impressive yachts and cars! You can enjoy the magnificent restaurants, cafes and shops that surround the port. The small streets inside the port are crowded with pubs and discotheques too. You arrive to Puerto Banus from town-centre by road along the 'Golden Mile', in 10 minutes, or by sea, as there are boats that carry passengers from the Leisure Port in Marbella to Puerto Banus regularly. And don't panic! Prices are not as high as you could think, at less not in every place.
¡Y no te asustes! Los precios no son tan elevados como puedas imaginarte, al menos no en todos los sitios.
Never before have I personally been exposed to such wealth! Aaaah Puerto Banus... dine at TGI Fridays and watch the Bentleys and Ferraris drive by... drip ice-cream on your Old Navy jeans in front of a multi-million dollar yacht complete with private guards... fight the old lady int he 1980 Claude Montana blazer for the last silk blouse at Zara or Mango... what a clash of high and low!

Puerto banus is a must
Puerto Banus is located just west of Marbella, before you reach the small town of San Pedro de Alcantara. This is the place to be pampered yachtside and ogle those fabulous luxury yachts while sipping a drink at one of the many open air restaurants and bars. The setting is close to ideal, with its impressive mountain backdrop and ocean views.
Since its inception some forty years ago, the port has steadily grown and now features a casino, commercial shopping centre, a Corte Ingles department store, marine observatory and a multi cinema with films shown with their original soundtrack.
Nightlife buzzes at Puerto Banus with your choice of alfresco bars, piano clubs and discos while during the day this is a window shopper´s dream with several of the world renowned fashions houses featured here, in addition to small, interesting shops and boutiques.

For The Rich & Famous, And The Beautiful
Just go West of Marbella and visit Puerto Banus; the "high-life and night-life" will begin for you! Wealthy, fashionable and glamorous people welcome you at their parties you'll never forget again!
This is too much to watch this fabulous catwalk of luxury yachts, pampering Puerto Banus and its public. Although an ideal, fashionable setting with beautiful ocean views ...
While bewildered by its abundance, the marine place will show you why about 5 million visitors come here every year. Well, most visitors come to watch the boats, ... euhhh, yachts! And the Ferrari's, and the Porsches ... and the ladies. You know where rich men are ... the beautiful ladies ... ... ...

Check Out the Yachts in the Harbor
Take a stroll down the dock and get a glimpse of the life of the wealthy international crowd that make an intermediate stop here. Many are coming from the Balearic Islands and others from ports much farther away. Especially take time to check out the yachts and sailboats in the harbor and brush up on your nautical lingo while hobknobbing with a mixture of people.

Fast Cars & Beautiful People
We travelled to Puerto Banus on an empty stomach having missed the hotel breakfast, so we stopped at the first place we came to for some food. This was Jacks - an American themed restaurant on the harbour.
We sat outside and ate pizza whilst watching Ferraris, Mercedes et etc cruising past - oh how the other half live eh?
There are some wonderful shops around the harbour but bring your credit card and extend your overdraft as it's all rather expensive!!

for normal people, just for a walk, some shopping, going out ... lol you can go there without being rich ...
Flashy and Fun
Puerto Banus is worth a short visit if you are in Marbella. If you have alot of money to spend, love to shop, and have the extra time, come here for the high-end shopping, expensive restaurants and bars, and nightclubs. If you don't have extra money but you have a little extra time, stroll down the nice harbor front and look at the yachts and dream you are rich. If you don't have extra money or extra time, skip it - there is more to see in other places in and around Marbella.
