If you go to Marbella from Malaga you have to take the nac 340 or A7, is the one who goes by the coast. You can take the toll road from fuengirola, it cost around 3 euros but depends of the season it cost more.%

You can "travel" between Puerto Banús and the town centre by ship too. The boat leaves from the Marbella's marina to Puerto Banus and it returns. The price is 8 euros for adults and 4 for children the round trip. If you want just one trip it costs 5 euros for adults and 2 for children. The journey takes 30 minutes.

There is a small tourist train which give you a strool around the city. It leaves from El Faro street and the ride takes 25 minutes. It's not expensive at all, just 4 euros for adults and children and it's free for children under 5 years old.

You can arrive to Marbella from two differents roads: one is free and the other one is not. I usually choose the toll motorway (AP-7) when it's rush hour (8-9 in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon, for example). On the other hand, when I come during another time I prefer the toll free one (A-7) because it's not bad at all and it even have street lamps all the way.

When we would go in to town or the grocery or shopping center we normally took a cab.
Make sure if the weather is hot that the air conditioner works!
Once we had a taxi that didn't have it and another time they charged us extra to put it on!
It was a shame I didn't have the DB7 with me but this DB9 would have worked just fine!

There is a shuttle bus that goes to/from the airport in Malaga to/from the main bus station in Marbella. It costs 4.33 euros one way. From there, you can take a bus or taxi to other destinations. The Portillo Bus station is in San Pedro. The Portillo Bus company has buses that go all the way from Malaga to Algeciras. They go all around Marbella, Puerto Banus, and San Pedro de Alcantara, and to nearby towns. It is very cheap, about .95 euro for a short ride, about 4.20 euros for a longer one. Many of the buses run until 11 or 12 at night. It is the most efficient way of getting around. They do tend to run about 15-30 min late, so plan for that in your day excursions. Many hotels have a bus schedule, as do the bus stations. The bus stops have a schedule and routes for the in town destinations. There is no need for advance ticket purchase for day excursions. Just buy them at the bus station.
