    Irish Restaurant/Bar. The Okey is a lovely little Irish bar that serves good food. As is the norm in Nerja, it is a small bar with limited tables and bar stools. It becomes very popular at nightime and gets a trifle warm even in winter. Yes, they sell draught Guinness ! Price range: Good value for money on drinks and Excellent value on their food, especially in this higher priced area of town. Atmosphere: A busy bar but conversations are good even if space is limited Theme: No real theme to this bar. Opening times: From 7pm until quite late. ClosedTuesdays Disabled notes: Warning for those with walking disabilities, the toilets are upstairs.

    Spanish Cafe/Bar. Bar Turry is located at the top of the Nerja next to the Coach Dock on the ticket booth side of the road. This is an everyday Spanish bar without tourist frills but does have tables and chairs outside under a large canopy. Prices are much cheaper at this end of town, just €1 for a glass of good quality wine! Snacks are available if you are a little peckish and at reasonable prices. Tapas too. It is also very handy for a drink whilst waiting for a coach to Frigiliana, Malaga, Torrox etc. or if meeting someone coming into Nerja by coach. Price range: Excellent value for money on drinks and snacks at below average prices. Atmosphere: A very busy Spanish bar. A great meeting place and for waiting for a coach. Theme: A busy cafe bar without the need for a theme. Opening hours: Closed Sundays Disabled notes: Steps up to the entrance and narrow toilets.

    Karaoke Bar. The Blanco y Negro is known by its English name of 'the Black and White, (although it litterally translates to White and Black). The bar is only open at night time and is a Karaoke bar. (If you like that sort of thing). Look carefully to find it as it is secluded up a shopfronted entry, although they do put an 'A' frame board outside to direct you. Price range: Can't remember. I don't go in there very often. Atmosphere: Depends on whether you like Karaoke or not. Can be loud and/or painful to the ears! Theme Modern and 'nightclubish'. Opening times: About 9pm til late. Disabled notes: Not really wheelchair friendly.

    International Bar. A warm welcome awaits you if you drop in to the Blue Lagoon. Try the breakfast - served until 6pm. for just €4. Other snacks are available too. In good weather you can sit outside at the pavement tables. (Too hot for me in summer). Or chat at the bar. Although Guinness is served here it is in cans but only €3 a can and you can guarantee it's in good condition. Also San Miguel on draught and all the usual spirits. Sky TV helps keep you up with the news etc. back mome. For a limited time, bottles of San Miguel are on offer at just €1 where they normally retail at anything between €1.30 to €3.00, depending upon the bar and its location in Nerja. Price range: Good value for money. Atmosphere: Good conversation and cosy. Theme: Predominantly blue decor. Opening times: From 11am until around 8pm and closed Mondays at present. Disabled notes: Warning ! Steep set of four steps up to the bar - not wheelchair friendly. As poor Clare, the bar owner at the time, found out when she broke her ankle at home at Christmas time. This bar has recently CHANGED OWNERSHIP August 2005.

    Casual but shirts must be worn inside.

    International Gay Bar. Bar Bogey is a gay bar (I am told) with loud music but nicely redecorated. The windows and doors are one way glass (mirrored). Price range: Drinks are a bit expensive in here, ?3 for a bottle of San Miguel. Atmosphere: If you drop a Euro coin it has to stop on the floor! Theme: Modern, clean decor inside without a particular theme. Opening times: Around 9 pm until quite late. Disabled notes Narrow entrance and toilets.

    International Cafe/Bar. The Caribbean Cafe is a rather out of the way bar that has various parrots in the corner of the bar. The parrots vary in temperament from 'extremely friendly and like to be stroked' to 'rip your finger off'. Ask the staff which are friendly. WATCH THE GREEN ONE - VICIOUS! Sunday lunches are available on - Sunday when else? Book in advance. Price range: Good value for money. Atmosphere: Great. Talk to the parrots. Theme: A caribbean theme throughout with bamboo. Opening times From 4pm and all day on Sundays. Closed on Mondays. Disabled notes: Level access.

    Spanish - Irish Cafe/Bar. Cochrans is a bar that is down by the Balcon de Europa. Guinness is served and the piped music is very convivial. Plenty of space inside and on the terrace. Price range: A bit more expensive than average being near to the Balcon. Atmosphere: Being as this place is so big, you need to take your own company in. Theme: Inside is done as an old beer cellar. Outside a modern terrace. Opening times: Lunchtimes and most evenings. Disabled notes: Beware of the ramp entrance instead of stairs when you've had a few drinks.

    British Sports Bar. D.B.'s is really the name of this place. The letters stand for certain parts of the reproductive anatomy of a dog! , as the wall mural on your right as you go in will clarify. They have several TV screens including a big screen. You can get draught Guinness here too amongst other beers. A horse racing bet can be placed here at lunchtimes. It is quieter at lunchtimes than evenings, when it can get rather busy. It is also one of the larger bars in Nerja. It has a terrace outside at the rear but I cannot comment on this as I have not seen that part of the bar as of yet. Price range: Good value for money. Atmosphere: Basic sports bar so bring your own company. Theme: No specific theme for this large Sports bar. Opening hours: Mid morning until around 1:00am. Disabled notes: Level access with large toilets.

    Spanish Guitar Bar. Do visit this Spanish bar for a wonderful evening of music. Guitar music at its best. Not played wholy for the tourist, but for the sheer joy of playing. You will feel so special when they play without the lights and just with the candles lit for the Icon of the Madonna. It made a tear come to my eye as I was so moved by this. Price range: Quite expensive for a Spanish bar but it is in a high price area of town and the music is free. Atmosphere: Magical! Theme: The best Old style rustic Spanish decor that I have seen. Opening times: Evenings until very late. Disabled notes: Not wheelchair friendly as there many steps down to the bar.

    International Poolside Cafe/Bar. Just outside the centre of Nerja, there is an area called San Juan, just past Capistrano. Here there is an oasis of bars set around a pool. The pool itself is really for the surrounding property owners use. One of these busy bars is the El Paso, where food and drinks can be obtained 'Al fresco'. Glass is not allowed near the pool and the El Paso gets around using plastic glasses by serving drinks in terracotta pots. Price range: Good value for money on drinks and food. Atmosphere: Very pleasant in the good weather of Summer. Theme: Poolside bar. No other theme is necessary. Opening times: Lunchtimes until around Teatime. Disabled notes: Level access.
