The local car rental, Autos Costasol, has fairly competitive prices, and has the advantage of being local. There are companies at the airport that might be cheaper, but this one is practical if you rent a car just part of the time you are here, or you just prefer a more personal service. English is spoken as well.
The office is easy to find just below Nueva Andalucia "Torres" (Single high building)

Malaga airport is extremely busy, bustling day and night with travellers who flock to this incredibly popular holiday destination. It's the main gateway to all of the Costa del Sol, so just imagine the traffic!
I travelled with my disabled Mother and, on arrival, we found the facilities for disabled people to be less than adequate. She had to walk a long distance from the plane to the area where assistance was supposed to be available. When she got there, a number of driverless buggies were waiting, full of anxiously waiting and wondering passengers. In time a driver came and was very helpful. However, once you get through passport control you're on your own again to search for your luggage and find your transport on foot. Even the walk to the coach parking area is over uneven terrain.
I have since learned that if you can walk any small bit at all, you are better off hunting out a buggy with driver - they're driving up and down the corridor looking for people but never seem to get as far as the pickup point!

Monday May 8, 2006. As Hans, Vincent and I were looking for something to do, we thought it would be nice to go to Puerto Banus for the day. At first we planned on walking there, but when we heard it was almost 10 kilometres away, we decided on taking a boat. You can travel between Puerto Banus and Marbella by taking a Panoramic cruise aboard the DON JORGE. The boat leaves from the Marbella Marina. The price is 8 Euros return for Adults and 4 Euros for children. If you just need to get to Puerto Banus the single trip price is 5 Euro for adults and 2 Euro for children. The cruise takes about 40 minutes.
Departure times:
Marbella: 11.00 13.00 15.00 17.00 19,00
Puerto Banus: 12.00 14,00 16.00 18.00 20,00

We usually have a car to get around, but the few times we don't, it's easy to get about with the local bus service.
The following site is great to find out where and when the buses go
