A day trip to Cadiz from Sevilla is entirely possible, you can see many of its best attractions (cathedral, shopping district, roman ruins) if you go early and take a late afternoon bus back.
I took the bus from the San Sebastian station, a return ticket is 18.10 euros and the journey takes about an hour and a half.
The business that runs the busline is called TRANSPORTES GENERALES, COMES

You can either ask for a map of Cadiz in the Tourist Information office in Seville before you go, or when you arrive at the Cadiz bus station, if you cross the road there is a newspaper booth selling maps.
Less than two hours by train to the south of Sevilla, you'll find this wonderful town. I loved my visit to Cadiz. The quiet streets, great seafood and ocean views make it well worth the visit. Check out VT member SirRichard's Cadiz page or check out mine for more details.
