Every Restaurant serves it: Eat Paella!

Paella is a national dish and its basic ingredient is rice. Spanish will season Paella with local Meats or Seafood or both, it's up to you to choose what may suit your taste. I prefer the Seafood one.

Badulaque: Breakfast, lunch, or pizza

Badulaque

Cafe Badulaque was close to the flamenco school so I often went there for lunch. Until about 12pm, they have breakfast available, then a lunch menu, and in the evening they have pizza. You can either eat in the cafe if it's raining or too hot out, or outside.

Favorite Dish: From the breakfast menu, I liked the croissants, cafe con leche, and orange juice. In the lunch menu, I liked the "hamburguesa completa" - hamburger with homemade fries and a small salad. I also had a Greek pizza one evening.

Dona Lina, Sevilla, Spain
1 more image

We had a very pleasant lunch of tapas at Dona Lina Tapas. It is located in the Barrio de Santa Cruz, very near the Alcazar, so it was in the perfect spot for our very short visit to Sevilla. The restaurant is air-conditioned (a welcome respite from the heat!) and was decorated with very old antiques like typewriters and LP turntables. Wine bottles also line the walls and dark wood is the norm.

Favorite Dish: Menus were all in Spanish so we weren't exactly sure what we were ordering. We ordered some of the usual mainstays for us, like calamari. The kids ordered some chicken, beef and fish tapas plates which they said were excellent. For what we needed - a delicious lunch, close to the places we wanted to visit, air conditioned, it was really perfect.

The menu was also written down on a blackboard near the front door. Click on that photo for the menu.

Cafe de Indias: The Tim Hortons or Starbucks of Spain

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

fairy_dust 647 reviews

Cafe de Indias is a coffeehouse that can be found everywhere in the city. There, you can get coffee, sandwiches, desserts, ice cream, etc. It's basically a Spanish version of Starbucks or Tim Horton's.

Favorite Dish: I loved all the coffees I tried, and also the fancy ice creams.

Cafe-Bar Aula Magna: Little cafe on San Jose street

My favorite cafe/bar - green chairs

This is a small cafe on the corner of Calle San Jose and Calle Levies in the Barrio Santa Cruz. I stumbled upon this place one evening while walking home from the bus station after a day trip to Algeciras, and recognized the bartender and waiter - they are musicians and I had danced to their music when they had a jam session at La Carboneria (flamenco bar on Calle Levies) the previous weekend. I came to the cafe quite often after I found it - the food is good, that part of town is quite nice, and the staff were friendly. Plus, I was totally smitten over the waiter - tall, gorgeous, Italian, plays the flute like an angel (his flamenco flute solos totally made my head spin!). Anyway, though we had a little flirtation, we didn't have a romance after all (long story) but before he quit his job there, there was something magical about that cafe that kept me coming back night after night...

The only complaint I have is that sometimes, not all the food is available. But usually the waiter will tell you what's available and what's not, so you can pick from that.

Favorite Dish: All the tapas were good, especially the quiches, meatballs, mushrooms, tortilla, and gazpacho. There are also salads and montaditos (small sandwiches) available but I usually ate tapas.

Casa Paco: Homemade tapas
fairy_dust profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

fairy_dust 647 reviews

Casa Paco is a tapa bar on the Alameda de Hercules, and the food is great! The tapas are quite cheap and I liked everything I tried. The only complaint I have is that the service is often slow and they occasionally messed up my order. Then again, the restaurant was often very busy, which means that lots of people also love the food!

Favorite Dish: The papas alinas (potatoes in olive oil) were good, and the pechuga a la cebolla (chicken breast in onion sauce). I also loved the puerros al gratin (leeks with cheese).

ROMERIJO: Fresh seafood

The seafood stall

Romerijo is a sea food restaurant that is very different from any of the sea food restsaurants that you may have visited. You have to buy your food at the stall, which is uncooked or just boiled and then depending on what you have purchased you may get it cooked or better done at the bar where you have to buy your drinks and then go to the table to enjoy your meal. The seafood is served in paper cones and is extremely fresh. The atmosphere and decor is typical andalucian. You can choose from Lobsters, crabs, shrimps, mussells, snails, squids, scallops etc., has your mouth started watering yet. Ah, if you happen to be in Puerto de Santamaria they have more outlets there. Find out the addresses from their website.

Cervecería Giralda: Very good tapas
enjoytravelling profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

enjoytravelling 44 reviews

A very good place to eat tapas. Quality food and very reasonable price in a restaurant very close to La Giralda.
The only problem is that it is always crowded and you might have to wait to be seated (even though you can also eat standing up at the bar)
Really recommended.

El patio de San Eloy: Really cheap and typical
enjoytravelling profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

enjoytravelling 44 reviews

This restaurant/bar is really cheap, typical among the Sevillan people. It is always crowded, so don't get there too late otherwise you will not find a single place to seat on.
The special dish is a vegetal cake, try it and you will repeat it!
El Patio de San Eloy is placed in San Eloy street, number 9 (near El Corte Inglés, a big department store very well known in Spain).
Recommended.

Restaurante Modesto: Best cheese and ham platter in town!

A big crowd, but good food!

Wow... the resturant is not cheap, but the serving is big and the cheese and ham platter is simply a must-order, if you are a fan of ham. For four people, you can order this one, plus wine, bread, and the seafood rice that will be more than enough!

We spent 20 Euro for a long meal (lunch) from two pm to five pm. See the photos!

Favorite Dish: Ham and Cheese platter
