This monument holds the remains of Cristóbal Colón (Christopher Columbus), te man who diecovered Ameruca on 12 October 1.492.
Within the compound of this cathedral, you'll see lots of orange trees where worshippers (in Moorish times) would wash their hands & feet in the fountain under the orange trees before praying.
The main mosque was built in XIIth century and then in XIVth it became a Christian Cathedral. Its really huge and a total building surface is 23,500 square meters.
Its Gothic retable is the jewel of the cathedral and reckoned to be the buggest altarpiece in the world.
And this is the cathedral's pipe organ. It is huge; it starts at the floor and goes up all the way to the ceiling!! And I think there were two organs... the wood work on the organ is magnificent!!

Spend at least a couple of hours at the Cathedral. Remember that during Holy Week it can be crowded.
