We were back in town two nights later as we neared the end of our time in this part of Spain. After further exploration of Tarifa on foot we spotted Punto Pizza, a small 'hole-in-the-wall' type restaurant that looked interesting. The only other customers were a couple at a corner table with a German Shepherd lying on the floor under their table and a young and fit looking group of people who appeared and sounded Scandanavian. They were likely wind surfers because they were having a great time gesturing various 'moves' they must have had to make while dealing with the waves. This restaurant was a real 'mom-pop' operation, with the man taking the orders and serving drinks while the woman could be seen in the kitchen (behind the bar) busy preparing and cooking the food orders. While waiting for ours to arrive, another German Shepherd wandered in off the street and sniffed the air - the one under the table never moved a muscle, just watching it. Eventually the owner came over and gently moved the dog out the door, where it lay down - I think it must be a regular visitor that usually ends up with a scrap or two.
Earlier, we had snacked in our room so our order was quite simple with just a couple of slices of Bosque pizza (tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms and parmesan) for 3 Euros to go with a glass of white wine for Sue and two Damm beers for me. After a while the waiter/bartender had to leave for quite a long time on an errand but his wife continued to prepare the deluge of orders she had received. Eventually she appeared and served the food herself. It all turned out to be delicious and we had not been in any rush anyway. We were well satisfied with both our meal and the final bill of 8 Euros and went to bed happy. I needed a beer after the drive & accoms search! by Bwana_Brown, 3 more photos It was just before 5 PM by the time we had settled into our accommodations at Pension Correo and then walked the short distance to Café Central, a very happening-looking spot in downtown Tarifa. We treated ourselves to a drink after our long day of driving and then finding accommodations before we set off on foot to explore Old Tarifa in more detail. Dating from 1894, with either sidewalk or indoor seating available, this popular local restaurant has long been a fun place to hang out in Tarifa. It was quite enjoyable just to watch all the activity by both locals and tourists as the action heated up in the evening with patrons either standing at the bar or finding themselves a table. Their web-site says it is "a Spanish style café, bar and restaurant all in one, where you can eat, drink and be merry from the morning right through till midnight. The choice on the menu is endless including everything from traditional tapas and bocadillos (sandwiches) as well as international dishes such as steak, pastas and a variety of fish."
It was dark by 7 PM, so returned to Café Central for our evening meal, managing to find a small inside table where we could watch the bustling activity inside. We ordered dishes of 100% veal (6 Euros), a half-ration of tapis meatballs and spaghetti with Bolognaise sauce (5 Euros) with drinks of beer and wine bringing the bill to 19 Euros. Just like in Granada, Sue was quite fascinated by their 'orange crusher contraption' for preparing juice and the lady who seemed to be doing all the work serving customers had a great laugh when we attempted to photograph it! She was quite a bit of fun all round. Our last visit there was in the morning for breakfast before setting off for points further up the Atlantic coast. We had cheese and ham omeletes to go with coffee and tea (~8 Euros). Hurricane Hotel by fifitrix72 The setting for the restaurant in this hotel is fabulous - though i am not sure we appreciated it as much as we should have after having just watched eng v switzerland and having one to many cocktails !!! All the tables are based around the pool and are candle lit and when you look beyond the restaurant all you can see is the sea with the moon glinting off it !!! truly beautiful !!
Any of the fish dishes is a must - all of which are done on their barbeque!! Howver, its not cheap, with a main course approx 18 - 25 euros !! But worth it ! (again and i dont know what it is, but the staff again were just not interested !!!) Leave a Comment

by bugalugs We didnt actually have anything to eat in Tarifa as we were not there that long, however we did stop by this bar/restaurant. We sat outside in the sunshine and I had a glass of white wine and Wayne a diet coke. Really cheap about 2 euros. The toilets were just inside the bar on the left hand side and were spotlessly clean. Didnt actually take a picture of the bar but whilst sitting there I took this one of a building across the street that I liked the look of. Me at Transito by barryg23 After far too little sleep the previous night, and far too much alcohol that day, by the time it came to dinner I was struggling and I can't really remember too much about this place. At 16 Euro for two pizzas and a bottle of wine (that's for two of us, not just me), it was very good value. National and International Cuisine. This restaurant's food was by far the nicest I had tasted in Tarifa. It has a mixture of seafood and meat dishes so it will suit all palates. It is only a newly opened restaurant, but I'm sure once the word spreads it will be very difficult to get a booking in this place. Lovely ambience, nice soft lighting. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a dinner with friends. There were also a family there with kids while I was there, and they also seemed to be well catered for. open 12midday to 2.am
