Locals in Tangier by fifitrix72 Wherever you go in Tarifa you will see all kinds of trips to Morocco. I had been there before and really only wanted to go for shopping and so I decided to go with FRS which is based in Tarifa bacause as a girl i did not want to have to wonder around Tangier on my own !! Their day tour offered a half day tour Moroccan lunch and an afternoon shopping which sounded perfect. After an hour of being driven around in a van and not stopping at any tourist sites we stopped off at the first "scam" of the day - having your picture taken with a camel, the 2nd was having your picture taken next to a snake charmer and the 3rd was having your picture taken by a Berba band !! Lunch was average (nice atmosphere though) and thats when the "hard sell" started. Instead of being taken to the souk, we were taken to a carpet shop !! and for half an hour were bombarded with carpets...then we were taken to a spice shot and again bombarded with spice talk (I have seen spice markets in morocco and this WAS DEFINITLEY not one !! and then finally when we though we were being taken to the "proper" bazaar we were taken to a hotel near the port shown into a shop and told we had 10 minutes to look around - what i can really only describe as a load of rubbish anyway !!! So basically... if you want to go and see the real Tangiers and not get herded into places where obviously the tour company are getting commission...then i would forget about this trip and go on your own GIRLS A WORD OF WARNING.... I have been to quite a few places on my own, howver, Tangier is not a place you want to wander around on your own !!!!
If you do get to see the PROPER Tangier try and buy a terracotta tagine, for cooking Moroccan, they ar eonly about 6 euros over there compared to £15 over here !!!
The day tour to Morroco costs 45 euro for everything Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Book your tickets at the port in Tarifa, tours leave at either 9:00 or 11:00 and come back at 3.30 and 5.30 respectivleyWebsite: http://www.frs.es/eng/index.htm

by bugalugs People who know me know I dont shop!!! Yes it is unusual but there are some females out there that actually dont like shopping :-) However Tarifa is pupportedly to have quite a few trendy fashion shops on the Calle de Salado, and other parts of town. Designer clothes, and shoes from Italy. Leave a Comment Theme: Women's Clothes

At various points during our 3-weeks in Spain, we would stop at the local supermarkets, especially Mercadona to see what they had to offer for picnic supplies in case we found ourselves in some off the beaten path destination in our rental car when hunger overtook us. That happened on quite a number of occasions but our little plastic bags of groceries at the rear of our car always bailed us out. We did the same thing while we were in Tarifa, stopping at this supermarket when we returned from our overnight stay in Jerez de la Frontera. All the stores of this type in Spain seemed to be very modern, clean and well lit with most having free underground parking as well.
In this case, we stocked up on our usual supplies of slices of ham or chicken, tomatoes, cheese, mayonaise, cukes, potato chips, bag of oranges, water bottles and even a bottle or two of wine for evenings in our room. Prices were all very reasonable and we bought the food in small enough quantities that we always managed to eat it before it could spoil. Credit cards or cash is accepted.
