El Gato Lounge: Great Tapas restaurant

Torremolinos Restaurants: El Gato Lounge

This is a great tapas restaurant on Paseo Maritimo of Torremolinos. Like many restaurants in Torremolinos, El Gato Lounge serves a wide variety of tapas and fish meals. Still this is probably one of the best eats in Bajondillo area. Close to hotels Melia and Bajondillo it was our usual stop for a breakfast. In October the breakfast was 4.50 euros, including fresh orange juice, a toast with jam, butter or tomato and very good ILLY coffee.
The coffee is probably one of the best in Torremolinos and although their Apple Pie is not the cheapest, 3.50 euros - you get a very big piece, so it is just fine to share one piece of pie. The apple pie we were told was very good and it was up to the highest expectations.
Overall, a great restaurant in a good sea front location in Torremolinos town.

Favorite Dish: A plate of Assorted Tapas we ordered on two occasions was a very good value, tasty and obviously freshly prepared.

Torremolinos - Spain

We arrived in Torremolinos by dinner time, but I didn't want to eat before finding a room. The girl at the door pointed the restaurant when I asked her for a cybercafe, and we entered. After choosing Tortellini (very good) I asked for the computers and... there was none - the restaurant had wireless access, but useless without a computer.

I cancelled the meal and announced that I would look elsewhere. Immediately the cook (boss?) exited the kitchen and told me that he would lend me his own computer.

Noticing that Fernanda was not eating (she was sick, and the only thing that she could try to eat was a soup - absent in the menu) he decided:

- I will make a soup for you.

He went out (shopping?) an came with a few ingredients to prepare the soup.

Well... it was great, and deserved the good tip that I left.

Favorite Dish: Tomato soup

The hotel offers an a la care restaurant with extensive buffets serving a variety from the regional area. It is open from 7.00am to 10.30am for breakfast which is pretty good and from 7.30pm to 10.30pm for dinner. There is also the cafeteria La Proa for light snacks and drinks both inside and on an outdoor terraced area.

Eating Out

There is no shortages of restaurants and cafes in Torremolinos and offering all cuisines – both local and international. In fact there is apparently over 250 restaurants opening from all hours. English breakfasts are big both in size and popularity. Seafood restaurants of course are popular and the best at La Cariheula or if you just want to try some tapas you will find plenty of bars especially in Calle San Miguel.

SO tasty.

In 2009 we paid about 60 euro for meal (per 2 persons) plus bottle of vine. Not cheap but it is well worthing trying!!!

Very nice staff - smily, polite and hospitable.

Tables and chairs are comfortable..fresh air, warm night - so impression is more than good)

The Carvery: Carvery buffet, Excellent fresh food

I have dined here many times and never been disappointed. Always busy, service excellent and the food is all fresh and the meat is fantastic. Huge Yorkshire puddings and homemade gravy. There is also a nice selection of desserts! Great value and friendly atmosphere.

Favorite Dish: The Carvery buffet as you can choose more than one meat from a choice of four and help yourself to fresh vegetables, stuffing and gravy. Plus you get sauces at your table and I love horseraddish !

Golden Curry: Indian

Indian similar (though not identical) to UK style Indian - good choice, good vegetarian range. Fairly plush. Upstairs, has outdoor balcony seating. For other vegetarian choices (though I did not eat there) try The Red Parrot - English pub with a more advanced menu than most of them.

Robins Next: Steak to die for
nsutton profile photo

The Robin's Nest is a family run steakhouse. The owners, originally from Manchester England, are very friendly.

I don't know what their secret is but I'm glad I found this place. I've not had a single meal that I've not been happy with. Their steaks are cooked to perfection and the baby back ribs are fantastic!

I couldn't recommend this place enough. Since finding it I've been back at least 10 times and I always take guests I have staying with me there.

Favorite Dish: Steak medium rare.

Along the beach you find some of the restaurants cooking sardines in fires lit in old boats. These sardines are nothing like the size I grew up with.
