    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In fits and starts along Paseo Maritimo are blocks of tourist shops selling anything from beach accessories and swim wear to souvenirs and clothing. Prices are quite reasonable. Stamps can be bought along with your postcards. Cold drinks, ice creams and light snacks are available.

by keeweechic Written Aug 6, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The main area for shopping in Torremolinos is Calle San Miguel. It is a pedestrian street filled with restaurants and cafes and of course shops. There is a good choice both local and international brand clothing, shoe shops as well as jewellery, music, gift and souvenirs for the visitors. handmade leather sandals, very good quality shoes, ceramic lamp shades, ethnic masks, scarves, dresses, costume jewellery and many other items.

As you climb the stairs of the narrow streets you will find them lined with street stalls selling anything from jewellery, watches, scarves, shawls, sunglasses and clothing. The distraction is a welcomed rest stop along the way.

  • Wooden willies

This shop is on souvenir street which leads down to the beach. It is on the steps near the beach end.

There were all sorts of gifts many wooden like the wooden willies you see in the photo! I couldn't believe my eyes! Unfortunately I was told off in English for taking the photo, though the Asian sales assistant then explained in Spanish that there was CCTV and her boss doesn't like people taking photos of the products and that she will get in trouble if she lets people do it. so I said sorry and settled for my shaky photo to put on VT.

As you can see there are also wooden figures with large willies. Are they saying Spanish men are well-endowed ???? ;)

    Bazar chino 5888: Chinatown

by solopes Updated Oct 2, 2012
    Torremolinos - Spain

Do you believe that Torremolinos is full of Chinese shops?

Do you believe that they sell there exactly the same trash that they sell everywhere?

Do you believe that, even so, there is still some people who can't skip them?

    You may believe!

    Street shops: City Centre

In a world where local commerce is fading, strangled by the big malls, it was a surprise to see the many shops surviving in the central area of Torremolinos. Of course, tourism is the main reason, but it doesn't explain everything, because most shops offer general articles, denouncing a large residential community. Torremolinos is,nowadays, much more than a long beach gathering pâle people from north of Europe.
