Returning to our apartments via Plaza San Miguel, I noticed that the Church was open, so we nipped in for a quick look. The exterior is quite attractive with its whitewashed walls and mustard coloured edgings. Two bell towers sit either side of an iron crucifix. Adding to the symmetry are two arched windows with iron railings, and two wrought iron lamps.
In the centre of the wall is an iron figure of Saint Michael.
The church is rectangular in shape with a single nave, it was quite simply decorated, with arched niches and ceiling crucifix carvings providing the only architectural interest (pic 3).
Above the door are some pleasant simple stained glass windows (pic 4)
The annual Festival of San Miguel Arcángel is held in the last week in September, culminating on St Michael's Day, September 29th. San Miguel is the patron saint of Torremolinos.
The Festival is a week-long festival of processions, parades and events including childrens puppet shows, food tasting and bull fighting.

This Church on Calle San Carmen in La Carihuela is dedicated to Saint Carmen-the patron saint of sailors/fishermen.
La Carihuela was a one time fishing village, which is now part of Torremolinos.
This church is to be found amongst the shops of Calle San Carmen. It was open, so we popped in.
It was quite a simple church. The alter was decorated with tiles that surround the icon of Saint Carmen.
To either side of the alter are two niched alcoves containing prints and a lantern.
The parish church of San Miguel Arcángel stands in a small square near the bottom of Calle San Miguel, just as it reaches the steps down to sea level. It is a pretty, white church built in the neo-classical style, with a statue of its namesake saint above the door and a small belfry above that. Inside it is simple and quite stark in appearance, with a few gold-framed paintings adding colour and a touch of richness to its painted white walls. San Miguel is the patron saint of Torremolinos, and his day, the 29th September (Michaelmas Day) is marked with a week-long festival of processions, parades and events.
The Church of St Michael the Archangel or Iglesia de San Miguel Arcangel is at the end of the main shopping plaza Calle San Miguel. St Michael is the patron saint of Torremolinos. The beautiful white church is in a neoclassical style.
