Favorite thing: Undoubtedly what makes El Torcal so fascinating are its rock formations. The limestone has formed into unbelievable shapes. You will find yourself imagining figures and heads in the forms.

Favorite thing: The walks consist of three fixed routes, marked with colored arrows. They range from 2 to 6 hours depending on the time you have available and the effort you wish to put in. Its best to stay to the routes as getting lost here could be easy, also you are unlikely to stumble into any hidden dangers.
I did the two hour walk and found the route to be fairly easy, suitable for young and old persons, with just a few awkward sections. No problem for anyone of moderate fitness.

Favorite thing: The plateau has formed over 200 million years, the sendiments originally deposited in the ´Sea of Tethys´. When the continent of Africa moved north towards Europe the area was uplifted to for the mountain chains of Andalucia. Limestone is eroded by rainfall (combining with Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere to form weak Carbolic Acid), to give the formations you see today.
