Favorite thing: Zahara de la Sierra is one of the well known "white villages" of southern Spain. It borders on a small reservoir between it and the village of El Gastor to its east. Perched upon a hill above the reservoir it has an unequaled view. The small castle that sits on the extreme top of the hill seems to hover over some of the homes here in the village. When you finally reach the top, or near the top of this hill you will find the main street of the village with its churches, the San Juan de Letran was especially colorful, and even a hostel.
Favorite thing: One of the things we enjoyed about our visit to the area around Zahara de la Sierra was the reservoir it has just below it. As we drove from the reservoir toward the town and then later in the town itself we were afforded several different views of this small body of water. The cloudy day gave us a great play of light and dark on the waters. From the grey and foreboding under the cloud cover, to the light aquamarine when exposed to sun. Each change of view and light showed us a "different" place.
Favorite thing: Well we just HAD to take Zohara to see the town of Zahara de la Sierra and to prove it here she is in front of the sign with the town in the background. I think this was one of the best views of any of the "white villages" in the southwestern area.
