Normally a place famous for -again- canyoning. Best period for canyoningis may. As we were there in august, we sticked to hiking. Hiking in that region is truly a pleasure as well. Not crowded at all. Alquezar is a very small and pittoresque city. Great to parc your car and start walking.

Canyoning for us was a great never-ever before experienced event. Fun, great. Must say we were a bit worried, since the day before, 12 people in France got killed doing the same thing: they got caught in the canyons when it started raining ...
You´d better be surrounded by good experienced guides. If only wetter was better it could have been even more fun.

This place of unique natural beauty is definitely a must when passing through this region. Apart from all the waterfalls, one could think he´s in the grand canyon. Unique, and to me much nicer than the french pyrenees although so closeby.

You have to visit Basilca de Nuestra Senora del Pilar. This church was named after the sacred pillar near which the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to St James the Greater. It is a beautiful church and contains frescoes by Velazquez and Goya. it also has eleven brightly tiled cupolas.

Zaragoza, like Aragón, is full of samples of mudéjar architecture. This church, built in the 14th century, is a good example.
