A wet Sunday evening was the perfect excuse for me to walk the 10 minutes to Estadio Carlos Tartiere, home of Real Oviedo. A 1-0 victory over Zalla in Liga 2b was entertaining too, even Mrs Bonio didn't complain too much!

Nobody was known in Spain for driving racing cars as Fernando in nowdays.
On May 4th, 2.003, everybody in Asturias (and mostly in Spain) was watching TV to hear our idol.
I heard on the radio that in Ramblas Street in Barcelona people were buying Asturian Flags for the event (our lovely, blue and yellow flag, just like Renault colours) and the circuit would be crowded with our colours...

We have the date: August 24th, 2003.
At last, Fernando Alonso won the first of a long list of victories in Speed Racing Cars. It took place on Hungary GP, in Budapest, one of the more beautiful cities in the world.
I was sticken to the armchair while he was running lap after lap in first position. The most important moment in the race was at 9 laps to the end, when Michael Schumacher (Ferrari driver, the actual World Champion) saw the blue flag which indicates him that Fernando is taking relay...

Thank you Fernando: I have a new reason for feeling proud of being Asturian. After the spectacle of seeing you in the same centre of Madrid, showing as the meaning of drive a racing car, Asturias is preparing for the future, planing another exhibition in our birth place.
I will see you next time in Asturias, but before we meet again, I prefer to see you at top of the podium in Austria next weekend.
Good luck, and keep your mind free for being used to the great triumphs you are getting very, very soon.
Oviedo, Asturias and Spain are with you!

Perhaps you don't "still" know who is Fernando Alonso, but I'm sure that in less than a year you will be used to him.
He was born in Oviedo in 1.981 and began to drive karts when he was only 4 years old.
This is his first real test in Formula One, in Speed Racing Cars, and he is in the top of the best premonitions: one pole position, three podiums, and five races in the points.
Equipment: At the beginning was testing with Minardi, but actually, he is driving for Renault (R23 car).

I think this one is pretty self explanitory. The official soccer team of Asturias is "Real Oviedo" based out of Oviedo. Soccer is HUGE in Spain.
