    DiscoBus!!!

A Picture of the DiscoBus in Action

Truly the only way you should be traveling to and from the clubs is via the DiscoBus. The DiscoBus travels basically the entire time that clubbers would need a ride to and from the clubs. Its cheap, and it makes sure you aren't driving! Aride costs on the order of less than 2 Euro (one way), so why would you not chose to go by this route?

Public Transport - Buses and Taxis

Regular and inexpensive bus services cover most of the island, even a disco bus to get you to and from the out of town disco's run hourly through the night.

The are a reliable way to get around the Island and actually run on time. But for some remoter areas, dont miss that last bus home.
For services and routemaps check the link below.

Taxi's are convenient, but sometimes hard to find in the peak months, best to try flagging them down on the street or at taxi ranks. The fares are inexpensive and set by the local government. Check this link for fares...

    National Express

From our then home of Torbay, in Devon, Jo & I got the "National Express" to Gatwick near London to catch our flight to Ibiza. They can be slow going, especially from our area. Only half an hour from where we got on, the driver has a stop of half an hour, which was annoying.

More reliable than our British train service though, which is presently a nightmare.

Sometimes you have to travel distances too far to walk or you're simply too eager to get to a club to wait for the local disco bus. Taxis in Ibiza are a great way of transportation. They are fairly cheap - about 12 euros from Ibiza town to Amnesia/Privilege. If you're 3-4 or more persons it might actually be cheaper to get a taxi than the local bus. There will altways be persons outside clubs asking if you need taxi, this are not official taxis - just locals trying to earn some extra money at night.. I feel safer in the registered taxis and it is cheaper! The drivers all seem to know their way around Ibiza and we never felt unsafe (some places I've been the taxi drivers drive like mad men)

Disco bus - transportation to/from clubs at night

by glamourprincess Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The discobus is a service from the bus company of Ibiza. The concept is transportation at night, especially between Ibiza town and San Antonio (Privilege and Amnesia are both situated on this route in the middle of nowhere). This year (2008) the fare was 2,20 euro.
The bus leaves from the Ibiza town bus station (a few blocks up away from the marina). They run approx. every half hour or so, and its fairly punctuate. The bus gets fairly crowded with party people and other more sober passengers but it is bearable.

    Easy and cheap transportation

Bus is a great way of transportation in Ibiza. The buses are fairly modern and there are several different routes. Tickets are about 1.75-2 euro one way. In Ibiza town the bus station (it's not really a station, more like part of a street where the buses stop) is located about 6-7 blocks away from the marina. You have to buy your ticket before entering the bus. There is an office selling tickets at the same street as the bus stop. In the evening you buy your ticket on the bus (because the office is closed). You might have to buy your ticket onboard if you're getting on the bus at the more remote places.

The buses run every 15 minutes/30 minutes depending on time of the day and route.

  • Ibiza town bus station

Travelling by bus around Ibiza was very simple and the drivers very polite and helpfull the only time we felt we were getting ripped off was at the bus station in Ibiza town after a very hot day and running for the bus we run into the bus station to get a bottle of water the girl behind the counter charged us 1.50 for a very small bottle of water if we hadn't been running for the bus we would have refused, the same bottle selling in the supermarkets for 35 cents

Taxi from the airport to Sta Eluaria - Es Cana

by tmsznowak Written Aug 17, 2007
    Taxi in Santa Eulalia

I came to Ibiza airport about 1 am. When I left arrivals hall I saw a big crowd of people waiting for a taxi. I was so suprised when taxis were coming one by one and few minutes later I get my one. Taxis are big and comfortable. Aircon is a standard. The fare is 0,90 €/km during a day and 1,10 € at night. There is a surcharge 1,50 € for the airport pick up / drop off an the starting fare is 3,01 €.
I went from the airport to Es Canar (27 km) and I paid 34,50 €.
I also used a taxi going from San Miguel to Es Canar and I paid 23 €.
At some taxi ranks I saw information boards with prices to most popular destinations. Official taxis are quite well signed so it's no problem to find and identify them.

    Easy Transportation

The bus system in Ibiza is quite efficent and inexpensive. A majority of buses from other beaches/towns go to Ibiza town where you can transfer on to other buses for other parts of the island. After midnight the Discobus starts which takes you from one party town to the next and runs until early morning.

Getting around ibiza from Santa Eulalia

    by garyal23 Written Apr 13, 2005

The cheapest way to get around Ibiza from Santa Eulalia is definetaly by bus. The buses run every couple of hours (last bus tends to run about 6pm) and the bus stop is up the road from the town centre (Plaza Espana) where a ticket office is located just at the bottom of where the bus stops are (Public toilets round the corner of ticket office, if you need them!) All the buses have air conditioning in them, ideal as it usually get hot in Ibiza around lunchtime.

Once you get your ticket its usually a good idea to get into the queue quick as these buses are very popular (I was sitting on the floor the last time I got a bus!)

  • Really on Island time!

    by klubkidd80 Written Apr 30, 2005

There is only one major bus depot in Ibiza Town. I normally stay very central so it is about a 15min walk from the port. The buses here are always packed if you come during the peak months of July and August. They are not expensive but if you miss the one you need, expect to be waiting in the heat for a good little while! There are buses which go to all the major beaches and even the hidden offbeat ones.

  • Official Taxis

by nickieworldtraveller Written Dec 2, 2004

If you are going out of town at night in Ibiza make sure that you know how to get back! There are alot of people posing as taxi drivers who charge very high fares and there have been some reports of tourists lives being put in danger by these people. The official taxis usually have something on them that will help you to tell them from the fakes! If you are going out there ask your travel agent or your trip rep how to tell them real taxis from the fakes!

I travelled extensively all over the Island by bus and found them comfortable and cheap and the air conditioning on board was a real blessing.
