Es Canar Things to Do
The Hippy Market is the weekly market that takes place in Es Canar.
It started in the 60s when the hippies (hence the name) that visited the islands started to sell small items made by wood or metal. In our days it’s still there with numerous stands that sell clothes, leather bags, jewelery, handicrafts, cds, souvenirs etc
We parked opposite the entrance (3,5euro per car) and we entered. It was very crowded inside, some items are the same in many stands so so you have to try hard to find something unique although some handmade items may attract your attention. I guess most of the people just came to see what this is all about, we did the same but we got bored fast and we decided to leave.
There are also some street artists here and there (living statues, painters and musicians) that make the atmosphere a bit better and also lots of places to drink or eat something if you spend a lot of time here.
The market is open on Wednesdays 10.00-18.00
There’s no entrance fee.
Es Caná beach is a 300 metres long beach that must be enough for all those that choose Es Canar for their holidays (mostly families). Although I see no reason to travel here for the beach (there are much more quiet ones all over the island) I can understand why the people that stay here enjoy it. It’s a sandy (25m wide) beach with all the facilities you expect from an organized beach, showers, parasols/loungers, toilets, lifeguards.
Along the beach we noticed lots of café, lounge bars, restaurants and stores.
At one end of the beach there is a small harbor, this is the spot where you can catch a boat to Santa Eulalia, Ibiza(Eivissa) and Cala Llonga,Related to:

how to go there
On the easter side of Ibiza island, 20km NE from Ibiza, 5km NE from Santa Eulalia. 5km S from San Carlos.
We drove there from Ibiza on the main highway C-733(carretera de Ibiza A San Joan Labritja) and then turned into PM-810 to Santa Eulalia del Rio. From there we followed the signs to Es Canar.
Entering the town we noticed a free parking just over the beach but if you want just to see the market drive along the beach along cami Puinta Arabi until you find a much bigger parking (3,5e per car) just opposite the Hippy Market entrance.
There are buses connecting Es Canar with other towns, most frequent are the ones with near by S.Eulalia. The bus stop is 100m from the beach on the main road from Santa Eulalia, next to the car park.
Bus #18 (line Santa Eulalia-Es Canar)
Bus #24 (line Cala Nova-Airport) passes through S.Eulalia too on the way to Aeroport d’Evivissa.
Bus #37 (line port de San Miguel-Es Canar)
The small harbor connect Es Canar with Santa Eulalia, Ibiza(Eivissa) and Cala Llonga
how to move around
Es Canar is just a small seaside resort, you can easily walk everywhere around. If you stay here you only care to walk down to the beach anyway :)
We came by car and decided to park just opposite the entrance of the market but there is another one just over the beach on the side of the town. It must be about 15’ walk between the 2 parkings, maybe more, have this in mind on a hot summer day.
