Favorite thing: While touring the island one day.. Many tourists thnk of Mallorca only as a party island or a place to go for the sun and teh beach. But Mallorca has a whole different side that many people don't see. Or maybe aren't terribly interested in. Which is a pitty of course. On the other hand, i prefer the uninterested to stay on their beaches and in their hotels and not spoil the beautiful Mallorca for the rest of us.
Check out the countryside of Mallorca. You will find the real Mallorca, not the touristic side......
Must sees are: Palma, Soller, Valdemossa and Alcudia (Alcudia not on a market day in August!) and a ride along the north west coastline!
Fondest memory: The relaxing finca we stayed on..... and our nearly private pool there!
Favorite thing: This typical flower wheel windmills you can see especially in the south of majorca. They hem your way to the saltwork fields of Llevant with the pink-white gleaming salt lakes. In San Jordi a wonderful sandy beach with crystal clear water wait for you.
Stay away from the big tourist centres like Cala Rajada, Acudia and El Arenal...take a car and escape to the countryside. You will love it.
Fondest memory: Peaceful areas, lemon trees, goats, fields, beautiful fincas, small cafes on empty plazas, empty off-roads, small secluded beaches
Enjoy plenty of 'määäähhh's of sheeps and goats surrounding your finca on the countryside. In the warm evening at sunset it (can) give you the feeling of being in paradise..very peaceful!.
Fondest memory: Staying in a Finca-style Guesthouse called 'Monnaber Vell' in Campanet..in the evening hundreds of sheeps surrounded the rural finca with pool...you sleep so well (you do not have to count them for falling asleep, I promise you!!!)
Favorite thing: Get out of the tourist resorts & see the rest of Majorca. It's quite a bit island & has some really nice scenery - especially on the north of the island which only really has one majory resort (Alcudia)
Favorite thing: Can't really remember where i shot this picture although i'm quite convinced it is somewhere between Palma and the airport. And i passed this place a fair few times.
Favorite thing: some of us tried to climb down these rocks...quite crazy but a great adventure ;-)....on the way to Formentor we had so amazing views to the sea or other landscapes!!
On Majorca, I loved the remote countryside, secluded beaches and the cute small vilages.
Fondest memory: The drive along the coastline between Port Andratx and Valldemossa. Absolutely breathtaking!
