  • Best beaches on the island

    by yam20 Written Jun 6, 2008

    Hi

Have you been to the south east of the island? Ther is a resort called Colonia San Jordie which has some of the best beaches on the island! You can check out the area by looking at videos of Es trenc on Utube, also Hotel Migjorn video on utube gives a good idea of what the are is like. Lots of villages with local restaurants. Sa Rapita is also close by and that is very typical. No hotels but you can rent apartments from local people.

    Cala Morlanda

    Cala Morlanda

This is one of many bays on the eastern side of the island, however this is one is obviously not visited by so many tourists. Cala Morlanda is located near S'llot and a few kilometers north of Porto Petro. It has crystal clear water and is only reached by car (there are no buses here as far as I am concerned).

    Pay beach "Es Trenc"

    Es Trenc

Ok, this was unexpected. We were driving around the island and saw directions to some beach - "Es Trenc". After some km on a narrow road, finaly the beach! But our surprise was the 5 euros we had to pay to enter! 6pm and we payed the same as a person who as been on that beach all day!Although beaches are public spaces in Spain (private beaches are not allowed), you’ll have to pay a parking permit. If you don’t want to pay you’ll have to walk more than half an hour. I think is kinda worth it, it has beatiful sea, caribbean like.

Secluded Coves and Beaches in Cala d'Or

    Cala d'Or

We found a beautiful little spot for swimming only 10 minutes from Cala Gran.

Try to stay away from the main beaches, they get over crowded. Venture away from the tourist spots and try to find yourself your own private spot, definatly worth while.

There is more to Cala d'Or and Mallorca than what in in the brochure!

    Cala Mesquida

    Cala Mesquida
A visit worths not only because of the highly choppy water and about 350 ms wide and more than 250 ms of deep, bright sandy beach, but, first of all, because of the unique, wildly romantic landscape, and the unique shifting sand dunes. With more stormy weather the waves can be quite high here, but a lifeguard pays attention. Good place for aquatic sports like surfing or diving.

    Cala Mondrago

Cala Mondrago, with its two magnificent sandy beaches set amongst pine groves. This pair of beaches are linked by a concrete path. Really nice for swiming and snorkeling with an interesting coves.

This ravin ends in this spectacular beach, a bit crowded in summer, but worth the effort at any time of the year.

Hard To Believe This Was Mallorca

Looking at this it looks more like the caribbean than one of the Baleric Islands in the Med, but it just goes to show that you don't have to cross the world to find crystal waters and white sands
