    Them There Hills !!!!

by GrantBoone Updated Oct 1, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Most of the accomodation around Palma Nova is on a hill overlooking the resort. Fine when youre going INTO town, but not so good in 95 degree sun on at 2pm and your carrying all your beach gear on your way back to your hotel !!

Beware of those not clad in Lycra....

by sourbugger Written Apr 13, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When hiring a car remember that cycling is extrememly popular on the Island and with a lack of dedicated cycle paths you can find cyclists flying round hairpin bends at you at any time.

Most of those who are clad in skin-tight Lyrca are well experienced and keep well to their side of the road, but you only need an inexperienced rider will full panniers to result in a nasty mess.

    Sa Calobra

by DanielF Updated May 16, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Will it get through?

The general state of the roads is very good, in general, if quite congested during the high season. If you want to take the excursion to Sa Calobra, you must be aware that the road is narrow and curvy, but as you can see, even buses do manage...

Even if it is only advisable for expereinced drivers, it is a great and scenic drive.

  • Gypsy Rose Sellers in Plama

by Ronniet Written May 4, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Please beware of the gypsy women rose sellers in the gardens of the Royal Palace.
They come up to you and put a rose on to your clothing and when you get your bag or wallet out to pay for it a crowd of them gather around you to distract you while your wallet or bag is picked. I have seen this done to tourists on a number of occassions. Please be aware and if they put a rose on your clothing don't stop just take the rose of and throw it on the ground.

    No smoking ban

    by Britannia2 Written Oct 9, 2012
    No smoking ban

Spain does not have a smoking ban as most northern European countries and it can be very unpleasant to sit in a cafe or restaurant and find someone at the next table smoking.

    Getting sunburned

by chicabonita Updated Apr 18, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In August it is very hot and the sun is powerful. Even if you think that it is too expensive to pay the daily charge for an sun umbrella it is much better to pay for than getting sunburned.
