The most accessible from Palma of the many beaches, this is a wide and lively beach. If, for you, the night is so important as the day in the beach, then this may be your option - the other is Magalluf.

If you prefer a quiet place, then... skip it, and look a little bit further, in the Calas area.

Magalluf is the most agitated and noisy beach of Mallorca, thus appealing to the youngster. We took solomonic decision, staying in the western end of Palma Nova, in the "border" of both beaches.

That allowed us a relatively calm staying in Palma, and some short visits to the other side, where the young guys of our team went each night. But in daylight, the beach is also quiet and beautiful.

Which beach shall I choose? Peaceful and secure ? Why not one of the many calas? We went to Cala D'Or - Very good. But the young folks wanted animation!

We moved to Palma Nova - very good (for them!), taking advantage of our hotel's situation half way from Palma Nova and Magalluf

The beaches on the Northeast side of the island were fantastic. The water was shallow enough to get quite a way out into the water, and even in October, the water was fairly warm. Wind was a problem on a couple days, but for the most part, it was a great place to be on the beach and in the water. There was one day, where the waves were about 3-4 feet, which created a fairly significant undertow. For most good to average swimmers, no big deal, but I was somewhat worried the few times my daughter got toppled from her raft.

Take a walk along " The Prom "

Paseo Maritimo, Palma.

Enjoy a relaxing walk along The Paseo Maritimo which runs from the Cathedral to the Port area. This is basically the Prom and stretches for a couple of miles and passes the marina heading west.

The pavements are lined with palm trees and there are numerous shops, bars, cafes & restaurants.

Get away from the crowds, relax and just enjoy the walk.

Sea sight..

Palma has this huge strip of boulevard and it is quite a joy to just follow it for a while and look at all the boats, yachts, ferries... Not to mention all the people that you pass. There are also a fair amount of bars and terraces (day and evening) and bars and clubs (evening/night). So this strip along the sea is never boring.

Port de Soller

Porta de Soller is a good spot to spend a day on the beach, with some little restaurants and shops nearby. The warm, sheltered bay is good for swimming. We spent all day there in Oct/Nov and the climate was perfect for it.

The center beach has alot of boats there, but if you wind your way further out, it becomes more and more emptied out. The views of the bay, the town and surrounding mountains are lovely when just floating.

city under sunset

Between Palma and Arenal there is a long coastline with few bars and cafes. Is mostly for walking and enjoying the sunset. At susnset is great, there are some places to stop and take a rest. There is a cafe, El peon, from here U´ll cath very good view of the city under sunset. About 2 km after this cafe U´ll find an amazing spot to see the planes taking off. When they pass above the beach, they are only around 200mt from the sea level...so try it, U´ll not regret it.

Arenal walk

Arenal, the nearest beach to the city. Only 20 minutes on bus, take 15 from Plaza Espanya and it will drop U there. Is the tipical tourist place, lot of hotels and souvenirs shops. But nevertheless, take sometime to walk there, it has a good view. A long walk just side by side to the shore. U can rent a bicicle or just do it walking.

3 dates under the Date Palm

The beaches at Palma Nova, although busy in summer are a wonderful place to spend time. The water is usually very calm and quite shallow at the shoreline. It was almost sheet flat when I was last there. It is also crystal clear. The beach it's self has beautiful golden soft sand and is cleaned every day.

Find your spot early and you can relax in the sun on a good beach or why not sit under a palm tree and read a book.
