    Coach departure points

    by Britannia2 Written Oct 1, 2012

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you go on a day trip from a Majorcan resort to Palma your coach will drop off and pick up on Carrer de l'Escollera - a very long street next to the sea opposite the Cathedral. Allow at least 15 minutes to get here from the Cathedral.
When you wait for your coach there is very little protection from the sun - just some occasional shelters with slatted roofs that seem pointless.
There is cafe at the end of the street that has great views over the city and ocean.

by DennyP Written Dec 11, 2011

    MAJORCA
When travelling out of the city areas here .I always carried a bottle of fresh drinking water...Not only is it really hot in the summer time but also it can be isloated as well...make sure that you keep up with fluid loss as dehydration can be a big problem.

    Narrow Streets-CAn Get Lost

by BruceDunning Written Dec 1, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Through the old section of town are very narrow streets and they wind not necessarily in an straight angle direction. Be aware that a good map and good map reader may be needed to ind some sites. When crowds contribute to the morass, finding your way could be worse.

    Rain Dampers the Spirit

by BruceDunning Updated Dec 1, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

When it rains, it may pour. Even though there is only 16 inches of average rain falling here annually, it may shower a bit many days due to the clouds blowing by. Stipulated rainy days totals an average of 60 days.

Mind the 2-wheeled menaces - Cap de Formentor

by pugwashman Written Jul 4, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Cap de Formentor seems to be magnet for cyclists. As if the roads aren't bloody difficult enough !! Around every hairpin bend you come up behind or head on to a group of cyclists who have absolutely no regard for anyone else on the road. They won't move over to get out of your way and they ride side by side.
So if you really feel the need to go as far as the lighthouse at the end of the peninsular, do yourself a favour and hire a 4x4 and see how many of the blighters you can mow down.

There are a lot of steps to take at Bellver Castle

by dlytle Written Oct 7, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As you can see from the photo, you will have to negotiate a lot of steps if you decide to tour Bellver Castle. These particular steps lead up to the castle itself from the parking area.

Inside the castle, if you decide to tour the roof and battlements, there are even more steps to climb. The castle and city views are certainly worth the effort if you are in shape to do so but I would be careful if you have any heart, respiratory or ambulatory problems, especially during the hot summer months.

    No Where to Hide

by BruceDunning Written Dec 1, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

During a rain, unless you are inside a place with shelter, there are no spots to drop in and avoid the downpour. Tourists hug every bit a a dry place that can be found.
