Puig Tomir from the old Soller-Lluc-Pollensa road

Puig Tomir:
Standing at 1103 m this is by far not the highest mountain in Mallorca, but don't be mistaken this is a mountain.
My climb started at Lluc monastery, I headed towards Binifaldo and the bottling plant. from there the climb became steep and in places quiet dangerous as you traversed a few scree fields to what turns out to be a false summit.
On reaching the summit the views across the vast majority of the island are breathtaking, from here you see the true beauty of Mallorca. I love the view down towards the Lluc plain and also the panorama that takes in Pollensa Town, Puerto Pollensa, Cala Sant Vicenc and Cap de Formentor.
The day I completed this climb was one of the hottest the locals could remember for October (2004) And whilst Caroline was enjoying sitting out in the sun in Puerto Pollensa, whilst on the summit it was more like a cool spring day.
During my descent I pass a group of people whose dress more suited climbing a bar stool in some bar on Magaluf beach!. This is a mountain not a sand dune. Dress as you would to climb any mountain anywhere else in the world. Treat the mountains in Mallorca with respect, they will punish you if you don't.

Puig Massanella & Puig Major

Most people don't realise that the highest peaks on Mallorca, Puig Major which stands at 1447 m and the second highest Puig Massanella1382 are both higher than Ben Nevis 1343 which is the highest mountain in the UK.

Puig Major : Altough the highest your not allowed to climb it. It has an Army base at the summit, so the Public aren't allowed access.

Puig Massanella: At on 65m lower than Puig Major, Puig Massanella still stands 39m higher than Ben Nevis. On a good day, the chances of it not being a good day are pretty slim, The views from the top of this mountain are breathtaking and well worth the difficult climb.

Equipment: Good walking shoes/ boots
Sun block
Map
Guide
Compass
Water (at least 3ltr per person)
Snack
A warm top (it may get cold on summit)
Mobile phone ( call box at summit was out of order the last I heard)
