    Burger King: 'International', ehem...

    Who says it's not local?

Ok, this is hardly exotic but still… To be honest most of the cafes in Porto are less than exciting. None are cheap either, offering your standard tourist fare of chips with everything. Or bratwurst. Something ‘authentic’ and Mallorcan in a Porto Cristo café you’ll be hard pressed to find unless maybe you have time to stray away from the harbour and are confident enough in your Catala or Castillian to go truly local.

So in the end if it’s lunch you’re after rather than a full meal, you’re just as well saving your pennies for the evening than forking out over the top prices for a sweaty cheese sandwich.

    And the toilets are clean.

Favorite Dish: My favourite at Burger King is the XL Double Bacon Burger. And to think I was vegetarian for 10 years!

Sa Pedra Bar & Restaurant: Local-ish

    Sa Pedra Restaurant

This place says it specialises in ‘Peix, marisc i carn’, but then don’t all restaurants in Mallorca? And what else is left after fish, seafood and meat anyway?! Instead of going for the choice in The Guidebook we went to this one next door, just to be bloody minded really. There are three in a row on Carrer Veri, all with outside terraces overlooking the yachts in the harbour. Probably all three are equally good to be honest, though we picked this one because it had the most varied menu and we weren’t immediately greeted in English or German (something that rather frustrates me!).

Favorite Dish: Food here was ok for a tourist joint, in that it wouldn’t actually offend anyone but was just a bit unimaginative. I had cerdo ‘cordon bleau’ (breaded pork escalope with a cheesy sauce), eating partner had grilled lamb chops (chuletas de cordero al grill). I must admit the chops were actually rather nice, or is it just that I always think the grass is greener... Good service, helpful, came to around 30 euros which is probably average if you want a restaurant with a view of the harbour and not the bus stop and car-park.

El Patio: Just in front the sea

The cafe restaurant is just by the beach across the street. It's a very informal place and a bit touristic but it is a nice social atomosphere.

Favorite Dish: Gazpacho was excellent. Salad was good
