From Bilbao it is just over an hour by train to Bermeo and Mundaka, and it is only E 2.65 one way. So it is cheap to get there. The trains runs ones an hour till 22:00.

The trip from Zornotza till Bermeo is really beautiful. The train goes very close to the sea.

Bermeo is about an hour from Bilbao, with trains running at least once an hour. The cost of a return ticket is under 5 EUROs.
If you get the train, watch out of the right hand side (facing the driver) and enjoy the view of the river estuary and sea as you come into Bermeo (from Gernika onwards).

Bermeo is a working fishing village. Its harbour is not a picturesque picture-postcard view, but a place where hard graft takes place. Having said that, the food and drink available in this hilly......
