For me and my friends the best places to eat were in the old quarter (at the right of the bridge of the photo). Try the "tapas" in Plaza Nueva (New square) and in Las 7 calles (7 streets)

A pleasant Bilbao pintxo bar that also does lunchtime menu del dia in a dungeon below stairs during the week.
The bar has tables out in summer and offers a good range of pintxos.

Archetypal Bilbao bar/restaurant with pinxtos in the bar and a restaurant area at the back.
This bar is close to Hotel Ercilla so is used to tourists.

Pleasant pintxo and racion bar in the casco. Look for the mark on the pillar showing how high the floods got to in 1983!
