    The tram

There is a brand new tram service now in Bilbao, running along the river bank. Is a good way to see new Bilbao, as it goes along the bank where all the new buildings (including the Guggenheim) are located. You can buy the ticket in the tram stops, signed in green.

Impressed by the public transport network in Bilbao. Used the bus and underground a couple of times but the tram was our preferred way of getting around. Prices are not expensive and you see a whole lot more.

The tram is an easy way to get around if you don’t want to walk. Get your ticket from the ticket machine, and then validate it in the next machine (Required) Any distance is the same price, but it isn’t on-and-off. If you get off, you need another ticket to get back on.

    The Tranvia

The tram system now runs from San Mames (next to the coach station) to Artxuri (the railway station for trains to Gernika, Bermeo, and San Sebastian. It stops next to Abando Station for RENFE trains to the rest of Spain.

These efficient and frequent trams run about every 15 minutes throughout the day, stopping at about 22.30 in the evening.

When you've had enough of walking, take the tram which is efficient and cheap. Tickets can be bought from machines at each tram station.
