La Puntilla Restaurant by mazzap This restaurant is in a quiet location overlooking the Charco Lagoon in the centre of Arrecife, Lanzarote's capital. If you choose to sit outside on a sunny day, there are large parasols if required! The service is not particularly friendly, but the food was very good. We chose a selection of tapas & with the bread & a drink each it was less than 32 Euros in total for a filling lunch. There are only about 3 restaurants around the lagoon so the chances are they will all be regularly visited by passers-by & you may have a job finding a seat at busy times. As well as the good food, I would recommend this restaurant for the view of the boats & the peaceful setting. by mazzap A restaurant set in a perfect location right by the old town harbour. You can also watch the locals play a game of boules whilst sitting at your table. The modernised building it is in looks inviting, but that's where all it's good points end! We had to wait ages to be served, & when we eventually were the service was unfriendly & sloppy. The food was below average quality with little care taken in it's presentation & there was a general feeling of 'oh they're just tourists' from the waiters. From what I can remember of the food we ate, it looked very appetising listed on the menu, but not so good when on the plates! It was very overpriced too so I would definitely not recommend this place or ever return! Very disappointing! With 2 weeks in one resort we were keen to try as many restaurants as possible - we visited old, new & previous favourites. This restaurant was a new addition since our last visit 2 years ago. It was so good, we broke our rule & visited it 3 times! The smart interior & outside seating area were very nicely laid out, staff were always attentive, helpful & pleased to welcome us in. The view over the old town harbour is relaxing & of course, the food & drinks were excellent! If you walk from Puerto del Carmen's newer area to the old town along the coastal route, then this is the first restaurant you will come to as you enter the old town.
On our first visit we had a shared hot starter for lunch. The cost seemed a bit expensive at 12 Euro each but with bread it was filling enough on it's own. It contained a delicious mixed selection of seafood, black pudding, various croquettes, fried cheese, veg & salad items. This lunch was what made us return! Very disappointing! This place looks authentic enough through the window, big wooden tables, open plan kitchen, nice smells, but the food & bad service is a big let down :-( Nothing tasted 'real'! More like a sit-down fast food place. You know the type, where the corn on the cob has been sitting in water for hours (tasteless & soggy!!) the mashed potato tastes like powedered stuff, the spare-ribs tasted like they were covered in tomato ketchup, the steak was non-descript....need I say more?! Just don't waste your money, eat elsewhere!! Lani's list - Increasing steadily over the years! by mazzap Lani's is a name you will see a lot of in Lanzarote! Since first visiting this island over 12 years ago, the Lani's chain of restaurants has multiplied enormously! We have eaten in several of them over the years & have always found them to be a reasonable cost & of a high standard. No sloppy service or surly wait staff here! In all the restaurants you are made to feel special & staff are very attentive. On the tables you will probably find a colourful long fold out list detailing all Lani's places. There seem to be over 15 now just in Lanzarote! All are based on a different theme, Mexican, Italian, Bistro, Grill, Tapas etc. See my tip on Lani's 'La Ola' which is his latest addition - it's fabulous! Also, if you are lucky enough, you may find a voucher on your table for a free drink or snack to use in any of Lani's establishments - there is no catch & no restrictive conditions! Take it & enjoy it later care of Lani's! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: US$31-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Throughout Puerto del Carmen & Costa Teguise

A simple but great restaurant that we visit each time we come to Lanzarote - the waiters all seem to have been here for years & are all very funny & friendly! We asked for a mixed seafood dish to share for lunch - not sure if it was on the menu as we didn't really look. This is a popular dish so I should think it is. We were very pleased with what we had - a good selection of lightly fried fish, some shellfish, nice fresh salad & hot Canarian potatoes with the typical Mojo sauces & lovely crusty bread! The dish to share was 30 Euros, an expensive lunch maybe, but well worth it in my opinion! Lani's latest addition to his bar's & restaurant's in Lanzarote in 2006 is 'La Ola'. This place has been closed for a few years & has re-opened as a relaxing bar with an Eastern theme & great sea view. The main restaurant is above the pool bar which is shown in my pictures. Both are good in our opinion, though paying the bill seems to take longer than we would prefer! The pool bar has a very laid back atmosphere both day & night with plenty of low seating inside & out consisting of large floor cushions, swing seats & sun loungers. Nobody seems to be in a hurry here! You can even make use of the massage service available for a reasonable charge! There is a large wooden four poster bed outside near the pool to lounge on - not sure what they do with it when it rains though!! Incidentally, we never actually saw anyone in the pool, it appears to be there for show!! There is a good range of snacks, burgers etc. or cakes at the pool bar. The huge restaurant above it serves full a la carte meals. If you get a bus into Arrecife you will pass this place as you walk along the seafront to the town. It was nothing special, though it's name falsley led you to believe it would be an authentic pizza restaurant. Pizzas were just 'ok' which is so disappointing for a real pizza place where they should be at their best! The service was not particularly friendly & the cost was fairly expensive for what we had. Not a place I would return to or recommend! The BEST English breakfast by far (around 6 Euros each) is Brian Boru Irish Bar & Restaurant. It's open throughout the day as a bar with evening entertainment, but advertises breakfast all day too! It's up a short flight of stairs and you can get a great view of the beach while you eat. It's a VERY friendly place (as stated on the board at the foot of the stairs!) and you get 2 of EVERYTHING you could ask for from an English breakfast including a big mug of tea or coffee!
A bar that serves a huge breakfast that includes black pudding has got to be worth a visit! El Bodegon along with many others by mazzap The best meal we had on our last visit to Puerto Del Carmen (and we went to it 3 times in 2 weeks) was El Bodegon in the old town. Not cheap compared to a lot of others in the area, but beautifully presented (with plenty of humour from the busy staff!). It's one of several restaurants that overlooks the childrens play area (swings etc.) and large square where (it seems like) hundreds of local and holidaying children congregate every evening to play football.
We tried various dishes on our visits, but the lamb chops are the most memorable! Huge portions - very nicely presented. The grill chef was amazingly calm considering he worked alone all evening. Everything we ate was done to perfection and all cooked in full view of all the customers.
