Authentic Italian feel to this seafront reastaurant. Great choice on the menu - obviously mostly pasta dishes but steak & fish too.

Lovely seafront position in central Playa de las Americas. A great place to sit and watch the world go by whilst eating the best pizza around! The coffee and beer was just right too!
We shared a pizza and plate of chips and it was plenty for a filling lunch for 2. Incredibly cheap at 15 Euros including drinks. Each time we go to Tenerife, we manage to find ourselves drawn back to this restaurant!
We are never disappointed - the combination of the fruit with the savoury food served, is refreshingly different!
Great range of fresh fruit juices too!
Mostly we order burgers - as they're home made and BIG!! I like the 'avocado burger' with it's very generous half an avocado placed beneath the bun top!

The most fascinating fact about El Monasterio is that it is build over the remains of an authentic monastery. Apparently, the owners of the restaurant putted a good pile of money in front of the few monks that lived there, who didn't have to think it twice to make the deal. After being acquired and restored, El Monasterio become one of the most charismatic restaurants of the Island, especially because of its placement, at the top of the Orotava valley (the views from the terrace are quite remarkable).
Nowadays, it includes 5 different restaurants, from a cafetería, a couple of tapa bars and the original top end restaurant, which is the one I'll like to recommend. There, the monastic atmosphere could still be admired. This establishment in La Laguna is quite popular among the locals, and I can clearly understand that fact; La Carpintería (the carpentry) is probably one of the best tascas (kind of an old fashioned tapa bar) I've ever been. The rations are huge, and I mean, really really huge, both in quantity and in quality, with prices that are a bit below the already low overall prices of the Canary Islands.
They serve a "Pa amb tumaca" with jamón that is absolutely delicious, as well as a huge tortilla de patatas that you cannot miss. A very popular and busy place to eat! The tables are all very close but this adds to the friendly ambience! The staff are all very jolly and welcoming!
This restaurant was recommended by friends who have eaten here many times. We would certainly return and would also pass on the tip to others to eat here!

We were in need of a good satisfying paella one evening and luckily found it here! Accompanied by a bottle of very nice house red wine and some garlic bread it was definitely worth the visit!

The bakery stands in the little village square with lovely trees & tiny Church.
It bakes bread & cakes for the local restaurants and offers great coffee drinks & snacks served outside beneath the shady trees.
Sit & watch as the bakers come out for a breath of fresh air & a ciggy

A superb restaurant all round. We have eaten here several times over the last few years and it never alters in quality and friendliness.
We last ate here on Valentines night 2007! A lovely evening with delicious food. Deep fried camenbert, Canarian garlic prawns, fillet steaks and house wine - all perfect!
Complimentary after dinner liquors and a rose for the ladies was a very romantic finishing touch to the evening :-)

This was our first meal of the week soon after arriving in Tenerife but sadly it was really not up to our standards. Garlic bread with tomato was a small split breakfast roll with very little topping, the ravioli and mushrooms were most definitely from a tin - yukkk!! and the pizza seemed nothing more than a supermarket pre-packed effort!
The service was very poor and staff were not particularly welcoming. Not a restaurant we're everl ikely to return to which is a real shame becasue the location is perfect and it looks great inside and out - but looks can be deceiving..............!
