by elcolibri Casa Pancho is my predilect restaurant in the south west coast of Tenerife. Sited In the beach Playa de la Arena it is a very clean and hospitalary family restaurant. The principal dishes are made with fresh fish and seafood.
All the fish dishes are very good but i prefer the shrimps salad. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Playa de la ArenaPhone: (34) 922 86 13 23 - 86 11 82Directions: Puerto Santiago

The approach to, and surroundings of the rather pretty fishing harbour of Los Abrigos are not too attractive but it is well worth a visit for a seafood/ fish meal in one of the many harbour side restaurants. Our favorites were the two at the far end of the harbour - Las Perlas del Mar and Restaurant Los Abrigos. It was worth running the gauntlet if the "scouts" trying to entice you into one of the restaurant/bars which line the path down the harbour side (mainly those with blue awnings in second picture). We went only at lunch time when mostly Spanish business people were there plus one large Spanish family gathering who seemed well known to the Boss and staff. In Los Abrigos fish is served by weight with a good choice usually available to view beforehand. I felt we were being left waiting a bit longer than the other customers until a passing waiter spotted our Spanish newspaper on the chair beside me. After a brief exchange in Spanish he told us that he was learning English, and would like to practice so proceeded to take our order in halting English. But the encounter certainly improved the service! At Las Perlas there is an upper, open terrace above the restaurant but although it was mid November it was too hot for us to eat outside,

Punto Fijo Restaurant by easyoar Don't think from the title that this is anything like a burger bar. It looks a bit cobbles together, but the food is actually quite good. It's more of a Tapas type of bar, where you just order a few portions of whatever takes your fancy.
The Fried Canarian Fish was very good. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Calle Punto FijoDirections: On Calle Punto Fijo, very close to the Casa de Aduana, Puerto de la Cruz

El Monasterio by agarcia The most fascinating fact about El Monasterio is that it is build over the remains of an authentic monastery. Apparently, the owners of the restaurant putted a good pile of money in front of the few monks that lived there, who didn't have to think it twice to make the deal. After being acquired and restored, El Monasterio become one of the most charismatic restaurants of the Island, especially because of its placement, at the top of the Orotava valley (the views from the terrace are quite remarkable). Nowadays, it includes 5 different restaurants, from a cafetería, a couple of tapa bars and the original top end restaurant, which is the one I'll like to recommend. There, the monastic atmosphere could still be admired. La Carpintería by agarcia This establishment in La Laguna is quite popular among the locals, and I can clearly understand that fact; La Carpintería (the carpentry) is probably one of the best tascas (kind of an old fashioned tapa bar) I've ever been. The rations are huge, and I mean, really really huge, both in quantity and in quality, with prices that are a bit below the already low overall prices of the Canary Islands.
They serve a "Pa amb tumaca" with jamón that is absolutely delicious, as well as a huge tortilla de patatas that you cannot miss. Linares, Los Cristianos by steventilly This was my first ever meal on Spanish soil and I was delighted to see that they did Veggie Paella as I was dying to try a real Spanish Paella, even though it would of course have to be veggie and to many people therefore not very authentic. The dish was for a minumum of two and was freshly made, with a waiting time of about half an hour. When it arrived I was not disappointed - it was a wonder to behold, looking every inch an authentic Paella (without fish or meat of course) and the waiter served it up to us direct from the Paella pan. It tasted divine and was by far the best rice based dish I have ever tasted. The portion was huge too, it could have fed three or four, not just the two of us, but I managed to eat it all (it was way too good to waste). I just wish I had brought my camera, but after 9 hours of travelling and with a desperate hunger it had been the last thing on my mind. The only downside to it all was the bill. There were five of us eating in total (the others had Pizza) and it was only after we left the place that I started to think about the bill, it seemed way too expensive for what we had bought. We added it up again in our minds and we had been overcharged 10 Euro, but by now we were back in Las Americas and it was too late to question it. I guess it was an honest mistake rather than a deliberate rip-off, and I would certainly still recommend the place to anyone.

At Otelo by Muya Located at the end of Adeje’s steepest street, just at the Barranco del Infierno, Otelo restaurant is a place not to be missed. Try “Poillo con ajo” (garlic chicken), the house’s specialty, deliciously spicy...with a Dorada of course, the local beer, brewed on the island. Have a seat and enjoy the view on the Barranco, very pretty ! Fair prices. NB : some say Canarian beer is not the best one but I didn’t mind, and I like to drink something that I can’t find at home :-) Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Calle Los Molinos 44Phone: 922 78 03 74Directions: Barranco del Infierno, Adeje

the most elegant tiramisu-y concoction by morgane1692 The last night in a particular city is always the nicest occasion to go All Out, to dine at the best place you can find. And was this ever it in Tenerife. OMG. Every microscopic detail is attended to by the staff, from the hostess to the maitre d' to the waiters and everyone else in between. You are made to feel like you are the Only Ones there. You get a brand new little candle for your table. They start you off with a complimentary watermelon gaspacho palate-cleanser deal. Remember the grand piano you saw upon entering this dreamland? Now someone is playing it, and they're playing all of your favorites. How'd that happen? What are they here, wizards? Yes. I believe that they are. ;-)
It was all off-the-chart excellent. The fish, and the tiramisu dessert were breathtaking. And the menu? It was in English for my benefit...BUT...my copy was also SANS PRICES!!! Such a charming albeit archaic touch, don't you think? A ladies' menu. In 2004. But it fit in with the rest of the evening, and I loved it. Loved it all. Really. A hotel restaurant. As far from touristy as GwB is from smart.

Canarian Menu by steventilly This place was great, the cafe/restaurant of the hotel Sabor Canario, set in a traditional Canarian townhouse, the cafe occupying the central open courtyard. The food here was based on Canarian classics and was the only place we found that served dishes using Gofio, the toasted cornmeal staple of the Canaries.
We had a smoked goats cheese pate (the red stuff in the tub), Gofio with honey & nuts (the brown slab) and Watercress & potato soup. All were unusual and certainly different - the soup especially so as it contained some bones - it had obviously been made with a meat stock :-S This aside the meal was delicious and enjoyable, especially the deserts, one of which again used Gofio - a mousse that was light, fluffy and creamy and with a combination of flavours that I couldn't quite decipher - suffice to say it was delicious!
