La Gomera, in the Canarian archipelago, is the very small, and much less visited island among the Canary Islands. Its Parque Nacional de Garajonay, a deep green, misty laurel forest, is a UNESCO world heritage site. If you are one of those hiking fans you probably will find yourself easily amongst the many, mostly Spanish & German, hikers which you can take as "waymakers". Walking trails around the valley with "The Lovers" and Arroyo del Cedro are precarious though as the valleys dramaticalley narrowing at different points.
