  • Club Hindustan las palmas grand canaria: WORSE Food Ever !!!!

    by Sophia10 Written Jun 25, 2013

Purrrrrlllleeeease !! Call yourself a restarauntt !!! Ordered food which was then taken out of the freezer and put in the microwave to be heated up in front of our very eyes...ASTONISHING !!! The aloo gobi ordered at an overpriced 6€ was limp and lifeless much like Cheryl Coles hair.... The nan was completely dead hard and raw again from the freezer.. On receiving the bill to our amazement the drinks had been charged at a higher price then that in the menu and when we enquired the waiter commented that the menu was priced at last years prices ,,, there were other items again overcharged. The waiter then seemed to get stroppy as we questioned the bill.

On leaving we had to mange ourselves down the stairs in the dark from the first floor very dangerous with two disabled people and a wheelchair ...no help from the staff

In conclusion a seedy overpriced resteraunt running a scam and certainly not a safe place for women ... Usually visited by grossly overweight men for drinking and who knows what ... We didn't spend more then a minute then we had to

Parque Santa Catalina: Don't miss Carnival in Las Palmas

by Birsen Updated Jun 28, 2008

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Carnival 07

Carnival of Las Palmas is one of the most important event of Spain it takes place in Santa Catalina area and generally at the end of January and the beginning of February for two weeks.( check the website for next year calendar) This year it celebrated 32nd year anniversary. If you plan to come Gran Canaria on Carnival time I suggest do not miss the Gala Drug Queen contest. It is the most celebrated event of the Carnival and everybody gets costume on that night and party till in the mornings. Also staying in a hotel closed to Santa Catalina park area will be very easy for you. All around Santa Catalina, people get out onto the street in groups to organize their own Carnival celebrations, after the Official Opening Ceremony with the 'pregón', the 'town-crier' who reads his homage to the Carnival celebrations, after the Grande Finale of the singing and dance contests of the 'murgas' and 'comparsas', and after the Carnival and Drag Queen Galas. The Drag Queen Contest has been up and running for the last ten years now and is a spectacular success. In the area around the improvised street stalls and bars, you can get as many as 100,000 people, all dressed up and out to have as much fun as they can get. Late nights out on the town, and street dancing, are all of a tradition in the Carnival city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Las Brujas: Classic Canarian Mansion converted to a bar

    Las Brujas

It is very romantic place to have a dinner and take a couple of drinks afterwards. I had two times dinner here, the food and the service was very good, and the price is avarage. Nice music late nights for dancing. You can take the house tour and sit and drink in any room of this post modern designed Canarian Mansion. Hours are not clear in the website you can call them for more info

Dress Code: Casual but you can be fancy a bit if you go to the restaurant

I suggest you to go to this place by taxi. (it takes 3 min. and costs 3-4 €) From the city Las Palmas in front of the Perez Galdos Theater take the taxi direction to Tafira (the inlands of the island - opposite of the sea). Most of the taxis know where this place but I let you know how to go there any way. When you approach the second round take the exit Valle Secadora The place is 100 m. after the exit on the right. It looks like a big night club and restaurant It is a big orange colored house. On the way back there is no No public transportation around but on weekends they have their free shuttle bus service back to the city (Vegueta- Plaza de las Ranas) every half an hour or so.

Que Tal: Cool Design Bar Restaurant

by Birsen Written Jun 28, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This new Venue opened few months ago. I went once for a drink. The music and the ambiance is very nice. It reminded to me the house of Cesar Manrique in Lanzarote Island a little bit. Organic formed walls painted white high ceilings 70's lights. but modern design. the food is very modern style the Price is a little bit expensive. I suggest to have a drink here after eating in any other restaurant in the area.

    Cuasquias

Cuasquias Live music Bar runs more than 20 years in Las Palmas. This venue always took plays in many festivals such as el Festival Imagina Rock, el Canarias Media Fest, el Circuito Insular de Cuentacuentos, la Celebración del Día Internacional de la Mujer Trabajadora, el Festival Internacional de Cine de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Many national and international important musicians played here. The place is emblamatic and must see for the night life.
The Restaurant is closed on Sunday the rest of the days opens at 19:00 pm. The food is modern Canarian style and the house wine is very good and cheap. Our favorites are Arroz negro (rice cooked with squid ink), Costillas de cerdo . (1 bottle of wine and these two plates +tip cost us only € 25 !!)
