We went on an excursion organized by our Thomson rep at the Arona Gran Hotel. It was an all day trip of the Island , the Guide was very informative (A bit too Much sometimes),all in all a well worth trip, taking in the scenes and Mount Tiede. The only negative thing i would say is,it would have been nice to stay longer at Mount Tiede,20mins was not...more

We were hanging around early and took the Indian buffee. It's served between 5 and 8pm and the price was 11,95. Good but not special. Cheapest dinner but I don't count this because of buffee we selected. There were some 12 dishes to select and the Madras Chicken was the best. Too mildly spiced to our taste, that's why the rank is only average. But...more
The restaurant is expensive and has to increase quality to be worth of the money spend. Take fish and seafood. If you step into the restaurant the most dissappointment was with entrecote the steak was dry and tough. The order was: Iberian sausage and ham plate, Soup Marinara, Seabass filee and Entrecote. Others ok, but the meat not. Half of us...more
This is a place were it is easy to eat too much. We taught that the tapas plates are small and ordered different kind of 5 tapas. And those were definately good, but we ate a plate or two too much. Worth of visiting, nice service and only small minus was smoking which seems to be ruled differently in different places. My recommendation is that if...more
The restaurant is in the tourist area, but still it has some local athmosphere. Pulpo Gallega (boiled squid starter) got the words: "best squid I have ever eaten" from my spouse. I ate Melon Con Jamon, not bad at all, especially melon was of good quality (never get fresh at home). Pechuga Ajillo (chicken garlic) was the main course, all photos...more
Unfortunately I have only one photo of food and the reason is that it was so good that I forget whole thing. The owner (who is Argentinan) told us his story and didn't serve us too much, when we tried to order 2 starters, he said that it is too much. So we ate one starter (Provoleta - italian cheese (grilled)) and main dish was (Parrillada para 2...more

I've been there to organize my girlfriend birthday party. Never been before, so I just pop in and ask the waiter to organize party for my girlfriend. They accept whithout any problems. I asked them to bring flowers when we have aperitiv on the fantastic terrasse. That were the first point. After that, we get inside the dining room, where a pianist...more

New cocktail bar (apparently opened about 6 months) in Calle la Paloma, Los Cristianos.Run by a young Canarian couple Yeison (Jason) and Vanese, both speak decent English and are very friendly and welcoming. A really nice relaxed atmosphere, with music, not blaring, subtle to allow conversation - my preference. Good choice of beers and cocktails -...more
We stumbled across this bar by pure mistake n to be honest just poped in to use the loo. But the warm welcome and the easy atmosphere won us over. This was our favourate spot just up off the beach. We would pop up for lunch which never disappointed. We would then return in the evening to watch the sun go down over the ocean and maybe the cheap drinks played a factor too !!! I would definately recommend here for those who wish to relax with great views while enjoying high quality at reasonable...more
There are a lot of places to rent a car, probably you find the best cars from airport but I took a cheaper one from Auto Berlin (Apartementos Coral Beach). B class Renault Clio with AC cost 94€/3 days. All insurances included with no own risk. They booked me up from hotel and I was allowed to leave the car to hotel too, quite easy. Motto: "Pick up oil level when returning". And E95 was between 91-94c.
This is in the center and there are a restaurant area around (of course). For example Indian restaurant Tandoori Nites is close. There a a lot of small supermarkets around the town but this has wide selection and prices are reasonabe. And you can take slices Jamon Serrano with you (sliced 12-15€/kg). Wine and beer too, 12pack of Dorada was 3,22€!!!
As in most beach areas there are many kind of sellers around. Here are sellers who start to sell you watches and similarly there is a possibility to pickpocketing by seller's friend. One evening we witnessed situation where 5 police arrested one of these robber boys.
(Police is quite visible in the area, you can't walk/drive 15 minutes without seeing one.)
They are everywhere. See my notes on Fuengirola and how you might respond. A simple NO thankyou is too complicated for some. I am not sure whether its the "N" or the "O" that confuses them.
Unique Suggestions: They are everywhere - "Oh you're British" is the usual cry!
Fun Alternatives: Say NO thankyou and walk away. Don't engage - no eye to eye contact and under no circumstances respond to jibes.
If you are not scared to heights and in good shape and condition, take a walking trip in Teide.
Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide includes an enormous volcanic crater (48 km) which rises Mount Teide (3 718 metres) and it's the highest peak in the Spain.
The park itself lies at around 6,562 feet (2,000 metres) above sea level and in winter can be covered in snow. Temperatures during this time often drop to below freezing, while in the summer months they frequently go above 40 C.
The best way to reach the highest point of the peak is by cable car. Once at the top, you can walk around and take in the amazing sights. Here, you are almost at the summit but the only way to reach the mouth of the volcano is to get permission beforehand (contact the national park’s office in web where you can apply the permit).
Or take an alternative, guided walks up the volcano are available (takes about six hours).
From top you can see Gran Canaria , La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
This is quite general tip and if you are non drinking or below 18, skip this.
You need to travel with right company (this is from Tuj/Finnmatkat/Air Finland), so if you are lucky you can purchase this perfect package. Beer and spirits are cheap in Canarians, so take it to home as advance order to plane. There is all you need for starting a small bar: 2 sparkling wine, 4 Famous Grouse, 2 Bacardi, 4 Gordons, 2 Havana Club, 2 Jägermeister, 2 Baileys, 2 Gammel Dansk, 4 Smirnog, Pepsi, Bloody Mary, Tonic and 7Up. Total package price 29,90€ (and if you count it in Finnish prices, you get about twice as much.
