Backpack or suitcase, also bring a little bag for your trips

Always bring something warm for the evenings. During the days in December you also might need something warmer, cause when it´s partly cloudy the wind is quite cold! Bring some comfortable shoes.....especially for the mountains and beaches.

You will get everything in the local supermarkets. The tabwater isn´t drinkable.

Bring a lot of films! There is so much to see!

It´s always a bit windy at the beaches, so a wind breaker could be useful, especially on Lanzarote! Always wear swimming suits(except at Papagayo)! ;) Sunmilk is necessary!

Bring yourself a map of the island if you are planning to drive around. A good travel guide can be useful for touring the islands.

Do not forget to take or buy something that gives you cover from the sun. AND DONT YOU FORGET TO USE IT! I spend one day in bath because I burned myself from head to toe! I dont wish anyone to feel that PAIN.

Bring a cardigan, jumper or jacket to wear on an evening. We certainly needed this in January.

Films are expensive sompared to the UK so make sure you have plenty with you.

Bring some warm clothing if you plan a trip to Timanfaya. You may find that it is colder than the resorts.

When visiting the caves and volcanos make sure that you have some sturdy footwear. Trainers are sufficient though something which offers ankle support would be better.

If surfing in Fuerteventura take a summer wetsuit with detachable arms and legs and boots to walk across the sharp reefs. Also take a good pair of trainers as walking on the offbeaten track can be difficult.

Plasters, Factor 50 sunblock, Mosquetto repellant, Bleach (keeps away cockroaches)

If you have not bought a camera or video camera its best to wait until you get out to Fuerteventura and buy one there. If you travel to Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote a Hi 8mm Video camera new can be bought there for £120. A deccent 35mm zoom camera is around 40% less than in UK.

If going to Fuerteventura to surf during summer take your own board as rented ones are always in short supply during this period. Taking your own board will cost you £45 by airline and must be prebooked before you arrive at airport. If taking a body board there's no problem, will cost you nothing.

trainers or good walking shoes are a must because a lot of the paths are dirt tracks and very rough.

If you stay at the Hotel Botánico, you will have to wear formal clothes (jacket for gentlemen) if you want to have dinner at the Thai restaurant. For the other restaurants you can dress casually. The picture shows the view from my room.

I took a Holdall ... didnt need many clothes

Shorts and T-shirts for the day time and casual summer clothes for the evening
