    This pub billed itself as an Irish Pub, even having a Guinness "Official Irish Pub" plaque on the wall outside. It was far from an Irish pub to me though, other rhan the fact it sold Guinness. It was more like a colonial spanish place, with dim lighting, ochre walls, gold roof fans and latin music. The second day we visited it did at least have an Irish barman, and I was taken by surprise by this as I stutteringly attempted to order in broken Spanish!

    Nightlife in Santa Cruz gets going really late. It's as quiet as can be in the early evening, so a good time to go oit if that's how you like things. Things start to pick up a bit after 10 but it's after midnight that things really get going. This picture was from our hotel room at about midnight one evening - the street below was swarming with people (mainly the young crowd).

    • Barrock is a well known club in La Laguna, 15 mins away from Santa Cruz.
    It plays the usual popular music. Entrance fee is cheap and it is open till after 6.00am.
    If you want somewhere to go to dance all night, this is the place.

    • best places to go out for dancing in santa de la crus, tenerife are located 5 mins walk from the Opera Theater, right after public swimming pools, next to Mc Donalds. Unfortunately i forgot names of these clubs. But they are huge and you can hardly miss them. Don't forget that they are open on thursdays, fridays, saturdays only.

    I have no idea what this bar is called, I just know it from its big Leffe sign outside. Sit at canopied tables in the street outside, or sit inside if you prefer (noisier and smokier, but still pleasant).
    Sells a good range of beers, and most especially Leffe.

    The Canarians love to party! In the one week that we were there we experienced two major fiestas! One was for the Sailor leaving the Virgin (or returning, I can't remember), and the other was the Jazz & Más festival. Check out local events calendars and little brochures that may be hanging around restaurants and hotels to find out if there will be a fiesta or festival when you're in town.

    The Spanish are always well dressed for a party- but jeans are usually acceptable for outdoor events.

    The streets of the city are quite pleasant by night and feel very safe. The shops stay open till after 8 and the streets are well lit, usually with a canopy of lights suspended from the trees and vines that cover some of the streets. As you can see, it's quiet out in the streets in the early part of the evening, but it livens up later.
