You may or may not be able to see it from the picture but this place does some pretty strange sounding dishes. I have no idea what most of them are but most are I think, simply lost in translation.
We have "mountain hard egg"

Mere to the plate
Croquetas of bird
marinated back
Still, if you're not veggie and you are prepared to eat whatever it is that the translation means then the meals here look good value. And it's very typical and traditional. Theme: Local

There are loads of place slike this in Santa Cruz, and especially down the Rambla. Basically an open frontage witha serving counter that runs down one wall (in this instance the right) and a row of seats and bench style tables down the other wall, with a minimum of space between the two. They look like the kind of place where everyone is a regular and everyone knows everyone else, and the food is simple Canarian and Spanish favourites - and nothing very fancy.
Few of these places had an English menu on display, but I was amused by the menu at this one which made a faltering attempt to describe the dishes in English. After reading, I didn't dare venture in (next tip). Theme: LocalAddress: Rambla General Franco

No seafront, no charming, just the best local food for a reasonable price. You can taste "pescadito frito", "papas arrugadas con mojo" and seafood. Near the capital and the beach.

Los Abrigos is a pretty working fishing port on the South East coast of Tenerife, a favourite place for a day out. While walking along the harbour side we came across this new restaurant Los Roques. It is like a little piece of London transported to Tenerife. We had a simple lunch, great salads (not just tomato, onion and sweetcorn) and were so impressed that we booked a table for our last night dinner. We got there at 8 O'clock just as the sun was starting to set and had our gins watching the local children swimming in the harbour. It was lovely. The food however was quite something else. Unlike the simple salads from lunch we had Ostrich, with a rhubarb and strawberry sauce and Tandoori Rabbit. Wow. These were some of the best dishes I have ever tasted. And the wine list is interesting. They have some American wines, Zinfandel, which was just great with the Ostrich. The staff were attentive and friendly and although the bill was perhaps a bit more that we would usually spend, we didn't mind at all.
Tandoori Rabbit. This was the most interesting way I have ever eaten rabbit. Rather an obvious way to make a dull meat taste great but I have never seen it anywhere else. Don't miss it. It is near the beach in Los Cristianos & all the other shops, neat & small, not to much people (a plus point)! The people are very friendly.

Small & Romantic Restaurant like almost all the other restaurants in Los Cristianos.
You can sit inside or outside the restaurant.

The restaurant is situated not far from the beach but I think just outside the tourist area & they specialize in Paella.

El Archete is a must. Set in a lovely and charming mediterranean house style, it serves fabulous local dishes with a creative touch that border gastronomy. I would therefore recommend to go during the daytime to enjoy the setting and order a wide variety of the delicious starters so you can taste the most of it.

Ask the waiter for the specials of the day but definitely try the shrimp canapes with avocadoes and tomatoes, the warm cheese with green and red mojo, the fish carpaccio and the apricots filled with merluza (fish).
