You are getting there by boat or by plane.Hire a car is the best way to see things.
Local buses are excellent. They will save you quite alot of money if you use them in preference to organised coach trips.
There are ferry connections with the other islands.
Taxi's are cheap and plentiful.
There is not a huge amount to see in Lanzarote so we only hired a car for two days and that was more than enough. It was too hot to be driving anyway!
Hire a Jeep as the back roads can be rough.
