    Casa Cayo: Great service

by alweis Updated Jun 8, 2005

Restaurant is across the street from the store

We noticed this restaurant while walking the streets of Potes because of menu en Ingles at the door. It saves me the troubles of translating, negotiating and explaining to my wife the local food.
So on the way back from Fuente De we stopped there for lunch. It was quite busy and one of the camareros in perfect English told us that wait is around 45 min. But sensing our desperation he came back in 5 and re-assured that in another 5 min he will get us a table which he did and that made us very happy.

Favorite Dish: Food was simple and tasty. Not overly expensive. And watching waiters flying between the room and the kitchen was a bonus.
Service was fantastic. Very quick and efficient.

The rear entrance to the restaurant.

Nice intimate feel to this restaurant situated in one of the old passages in the Barrio Viejo, 150 metres from the hotel Casa Cayo. The main entrance is through a bar and the restaurant is on the first floor.

Favorite Dish: I had a fish, that I'd never heard of, couldn't even begin to translate, but it was delicious.
We paid 26euros for two inc. wine.

From the terrace of the restaurant.

Another good example of a nice, friendly place with a reasonable priced menu. Mid September was a bit fresh to eat on the terrace but I imagine in the earlier months of summer it would be o.k. It sits on the main Plaza and has the Torre del Infantado as scenery just in front.
Once again we paid 26euros for two inc. wine.

To this people of Tudes, to ten kilometres of Potes, which it has 30 inhabitants, there came an Englishman that decided to remain here with his wife and they have reconstructed an old building of stone in which they have put a Tavern in which they alternate both cultures Spanish and English, where you can take a "tapas" or an apple pie, a wine or a beer, which can be even be warm
besides the owners there are two very interesting things in the tavern, a former chimney, very well restored, where it is possible to see how they were living, cooking and warming up in this region and a few and very nice murals where are the portrait of the local people of the village and also you may see Cervantes and Shakespeareplaying bowling
This couple are also the owners of the rural house: The house of the Chimneys
