Favorite thing: SANTILLANA DEL MAR
This tiny village (no more than 6 or 7 streets!!) is a real open air museum. Its name could be literally translated as 'Saint-Plain of the Sea', and so they call it the village of the 3 lies, as it is not saint, is in a valley and it is not by the sea. It was founded about 1.200 years ago. Its paved streets are surrounded by magnificient stone palaces.

Favorite thing: Visit the beautiful Beaches where you can find excellnet conditions for swimming, diving, windsurfing and gambling in the casino nearby. Take a Walk through the Parks of Peninsula Matalena in the Paseo Pereda. Visit the Cathedral and the oceanic museum. More tips below.

Fondest memory: When I first came to Santander, I didn´t expect anything from this place, because I wanted to work in Andalucia. But after the first days I fell in love with this beautyful town and the nice people there.
Just stay open-minded, take a walk in the city centre,
get some tapas in the pubs and let it flow !

Favorite thing: Santillana del Mar, picturesque town but ful of tourists. The quality of the restaurants was also much less then the restaurants in smaller, less crowded-with-tourists, places. Very good place for taking beautiful pictures!

Favorite thing:

Cabárceno Natural Park:is located in the Cabarga mountain range on land once used for mining. It is five kilometres long and two kilometres wide, with a total surface area of seven hundred hectares and boasts seventeen kilometres of road. There are also two lakes which serve as a refuge for diverse species of water fowl. One zone of the park is actually a small zoo in which animals are kept in semi-enclosed areas for educational and recreational purposes. Here one can see brown beas, roe deer, chamois, Spanish ibex, elk, etc. There are also beautiful nature walks, wooded and garden areas, a reptile house, a museum of mineralogy and geology, restaurants, trout fishing, etc.

It´s amazing. Sometimes you think you are in Africa or Asia. Superb sigthseeing.

Favorite thing:

In Santander we can enjoy one of the most beautiful bays of Spain, or the wonderful peninsula of the Magdalena, where we can find the old palace of king Alfonso XIII, nowadays it is the host of the activities of the International University Menéndez Pelayo.

Favorite thing: Santillana del Mar, 30 kilometers far from Santander, is an alive museum, with a medieval village developed around the Santa Juliana's colegiata (even nowadays it´s maintained its essence), although most of its constructions correspond to the diverse architectural contributions of the XIV to the XVIII centuries
The historical-artistic group of Santillana
cannot be visited other ways but on foot.

Favorite thing: Visit Picos de Europa, an amount of tall and craggy rocks, a rugged mountainous region in north Spain
with a great caving area! The area has a number of deep caves, including sima del Trave, the 5th
deepest in the world. In the highest parts of the mountains you may even get to find wild free chamoises!!!!1So real and beautiful!

Favorite thing: Visit Liencresand its curious dunes....yes dunes! in such a rainy coldy place you can find near the shore high dunes with typical desert vegetation, nowadays a little bit damaged by the visitors who ascend to the top of the dunes and put their feet on them. Actually it´s well protected from the human being.
