Santander Airport is located in Parayas, at about a 15 minute ride from city center. On clear days, the view of the city as you take off or land is breathtaking (if you are in right seat). The airport is well connected with other Spanish destinations (mostly assured by the small jets Air Nostrum, Iberia's regional partner), but also other companies fly to Madrid and Barcelona.
The airport of Santander is also considered by the no-frills company Ryan-air as their airport serving Bilbao, which is 100 kilometres away.
Arriving to Bilbao, which has much better international connections is also an option to be considered. A taxi ride from Bilbao Airport to Santander is about € 100. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

It has regular flights throught the year to MADRID and BARCELONA.

From 20.09.2004 RYANAIR will be serving connections to LONDON (Stansted) and ROME (Ciampino) . From 31.10.2004 also to FRANKFURT (Hahn).

A bus leaves every 30 minutes to the bus station in the centre, with a similar journey the other way.

 Ferry acroos the bay by nhcram
In the spring-summer-autumn season the company organises excursions around the bay and out to the Sardinero cove visiting the most attractive spots along the coast line.
Some of the places visited are Somo, LaIsla de Mouro and la Magdalena.
The company that organises these trips are Los Reginas , S.A

Un paseo en una "pedreñera" te abre varias buenas alternativas para pasar el día :
- Ir a la playa del Puntal que es una de las mejores y más tranquila cerca de Santander
- Dar un paseo en la lancha por la bahía , llegando hasta el faro
- Simplemente ir a conocer Somo y Pedreña ,dar un paseo y comerte unas buenas sardinas y bonito

 "Traditional" bus lines: 1 to
6 by milugares
You can catch almost every bus line to move along the seeside between the city hall up to el sardinero (beach area).
Bus line to University of Cantabria and university residences is line 7 (in winter reinforced with lines 3 and / or 4 - partially).

Hello "mate":
For me the train is not the best way to move in the North of Spain , at least is not the quickest
1 -At any case you must go to to the bus/train station from the airport ( see Santander travel tip ( http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/9fb96/3e1cb/9/ ) )
2. To go to San Sebastian you may take the bus , it takes 3 hours and it cost 12.48Euros ( Normal bus)
To see details you may enter in the Alsa (Transport company ) that has an English version and you may see there all the details ( http://www.alsa.es/?portal.alsa.request.locale=en_GB )
You may go direct to SS , but if you want to go to Bilbao to visit it or to go to the Guggenheim Museum , you should take the bus in the same station
