    Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar conocido como "El Cid Campeador " vivió en el siglo XI , nació cerca de Burgos y está enterrado en la catedral junto a su esposa Da. Jimena .
    En 1207 se escribió el Cantar de Mio Cid en el que se mezclan hechos reales con hazañas épicas que dieron origen a la leyenda del Cid
    En 1961 Charlton Heston y Sofía Loren interpretaron a el Cid y a Doña Jimena en una Pelicula y de hecho no os recuerda a Charlton Heston la cara de la estatua del Cid que está en el centro de Burgos ?

    Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar known as "El Cid" lived in the eleventh century, was born near Burgos and is buried in the cathedral with his wife Doña Jimena.
    In 1207 they wrote the Cantar de Mio Cid in which real facts are mixed with epic feats that gave rise to the legend of the Cid

    En las fiestas de Burgos , desde hace siglos , pasean por sus calles los Gigantones y los Gigantillos y los estos últimos han pasado a ser la imágen representativa de Burgos
    El Gigantillo , representa al alcalde pasea muy serio y lleva una capa parda , faja roja, “sombrero castellano ” y una vara que representa su autoridad.
    La Gigantilla que representa a la alcaldesa , cuando se mueve es vital , alegre, mueve las caderas y lleva un mantón bordado, una amplia falda con estampado de florecitas, delantal negro, pendientes y collar de gruesas bolas, una una cruz de plata, un ramo de flores en la mano y un coqueto ramillete en su escote

    In Burgos festivities , for centuries, the Gigantones ( Big Giants ) and Gigantillos ( Small Giants )walked through its streets and and the latter have become the representative image of Burgos
    The Gigantillo, represents the mayor, walks very seriously and wears a brown gown, "Castilian hat" and a stick representing his authority.
    The Gigantilla representing the mayoress, when moving is vital, joyful, moving hips and she wears a shawl embroidery, a full skirt with printed flowers, black apron, earrings, necklace with thick balls, a silver cross and a bouquet flowers in the hand
