On the way to Barco de Avila, the bus stopped for a view of the walled city of Avila.Avila is the birthplace of Saint Teresa and the walls of the city are perfectly preserved. It's about 1 1/2 hrs from Madrid and a litle over an hour from Barco de Avila.

Some of the locals never stray too far away from where they grew up. They're always glad to see tourists visiting their town. It's entertaining for them as it is for the visitors.

Aitor jumping for joy after a few drinks at a bar

The main square at Barco de Avila is called Plaza Espana. Along each of the "walls" surrounding the plaza is a tapas bar.

The largest one is called Cafe Espana which even has a fireplace to keep you warm; although you may have to listen to REM's music which seems to be making a revival over here.

In this picture, Aitor is jumping for joy after having a few drinks at a tapas bar during his one-on-one session - of course English was spoken.

Streets are narrow to drive around in so find a parking spot and walk. Barco de Avila is a small enough to walk around.
